I saw on the Sideshow Collectibles website, the announcement for the Hobbit statues coming soon. When searching online, I came across Sideshow Weta, which already has a line of Hobbit statue. Is Sideshow Collectibles and Sideshow Weta the same company? Or are these totally different statues?

Any information would be great.

Thank you

Weta is a different company than Sideshow. I believe Weta does the effects for the Tolkien movies. They also make collectibles.

Sideshow patnered with Weta for Lord of the Rings, when Weta sculpted the statues and Sideshow distributed them, between 2001 and 2005

Oh Ok, thanks for the quick responses. I have been collecting the recent lord of the rings statues from Sideshow Collectibles and really like their art team. The Weta statues for The Hobbit look great, but I think i'll wait for the SideShow Collectible ones.

Unfortunately, given SS's current pace with all things Middle Earth, we might see items from Star Wars Episode VII before they finally get to The Hobbit AUJ. :lol

WETA have the license for 1/6 scale Hobbit statues so you may be waiting a loooong time :lecture
Good luck on your collection, the SS stuff so far has been great looking :peace

Indeed, I don't think Sideshow will ever do statues from The Hobbit. In any case, they'll be hard to top and certainly won't be as numerous as what Weta are putting out.
