Sideshow Han Solo-to-True Type question

as far as the feet go, why not simply boil some water, dunk hans boots in them, detach the truetype foot from the body, soap it up, and shove it into the sideshow boot? I've done this with EVERY swap I've done, and never had any trouble, nor have i ever needed to remove the toes from the truetype feet. then simply wash the boot out to get the soap out of it, and insert the leg with ankle peg into the boot and press intill it snaps into place.

I suppose it's doable if you like the toe bulges. Personally, I don't care for the look, but I've even gone so far as to clip the toes so they'd fit, but that dedicates the TT to the figure, or at least one with itty bitty Sideshow feet. :lol

Good tip. I'll give it a shot the next time I have the patience. :lol The last time I tried to shove those feet in, I screamed curses the neighbors likely heard for blocks. :)

ok i have a question so you put han a tt slim body and your outting luke on the same tt body wont they be the same height? and i was wondering if anyone knows what tt body they used for the joker? thanks

Yes they will be the same height. This is why I'd recommend putting Han on a Narrow Shouldered TT and Luke on the Slim TT. I was wrong earlier when I said there was a 1/4in difference between the two. It's actually around a 1/2in difference in height. As for the Joker, it was a Slim TT.

thank you your a big help

Indeed. Everyone's been a big help. I tried the boot-softening trick and it worked ... on Ki-Adi Mundi. :)

Notice how Ki Adi looks very much like a squat dwarf instead of the statuesque Jedi warrior that he is (was?). I'm still chuckling at Sideshow's decision to put him on the short Buck body, as opposed to the tall version (ala Qui-gon Jinn). It had to have something to do with the costs of designing and producing a bigger box.

Anyway, on to the after...

Much better on the Truetype narrow-shouldered body. :rock Now I can stop hiding him and display him proudly.

Also, this kind of thing is getting much easier, even after only two attempts. It took me far longer to photograph the figure and add the lightsaber effects than it did to switch everything out. All things are possible with tenacity and a hot hair dryer.

i want to do a body swap for my princes liea in boush i know i spelt that all wrong ha ha

I thought about that as well, but ran into too many issues as the hands of Boussh are different, and there's the whole head issue (not like standard females because of the head swap feature). I'll be very interested to see if you can pull it off. :D

Just a note, all the TTs can detatch at the elbows and knees, so if you need a little extra length on the arms or on the legs that's always an option.

I recently did a custom Aragorn from LOTR...I was forced to use the slim body for clothing reasons...couldn't get the vest on right over the other TT's arms. But the height bugged me, so I made the sideshow boots sit lower by wrapping the top parts of the lower leg (below the knee) with electrical tape before sliding them in the boots. But then the arm length bugged me...they looked short. So I pulled the lower arms off of an old regular TT, removed the lower arms from the slim, switched them, and voila.

Just saying, when working with SS figure boots and having a few TTs around any height issues can easily be resolved.

Yeah, I found out about the modular system by accident. :lol Thought I'd broken the freakin' thing. The sailor next door was blushing.

Good to know, though. I do have some extra TTs lying around, so I might find cause to mix and match later. Thanks for the tip.

I might fuss with my Han and try to add a bit of height. He looks nice on the TT but I might even switch that over to a narrow shoulder.

So is the consensus that the narrow shoulder is better than the regular?? Also I don't own any True Types, so heaight wise , how do they relate to the prometheus and the bucks?

Yes, Narrow Shouldered TT is best. As for the heads, when converting a Pro to the TT, you'll need the full neck adaptor. For the Bucks, you'll need the small neck adapter and some glue.

Customised Hot Toys/Sideshow ANH Han Solo 1/6!

Actually it's a Frankenstein of different parts (Sideshow clothes, SDCC Stormtrooper Han head, Hot Toys Truetype body). I plan on doing this with a ANH Luke as well using similiar parts.

Here's some pics:

Looks great. Only thing I'm not crazy about is the slightly long neck (and the neck joint).

Looks good as is, but a nice repaint and a Soldier Story S2 body would really be something.
