this year's SDCC I was really hoping for Sideshow to let loose a Count Dooku PF. Also, I was looking forward to hopefully getting my wishes granted and an Old Ben 1:1 bust previewed. :(:(:(:( I'm really sad that neither of those arrived in style, but I still have hopes that my latest 1:1 addiction will be completed with Old Ben someday.

The tusken and Grievous are not exactly the best they could offer, true. A ROTJ Palps in throne PF, an uncanny old Ben 1:1 with glass eyes, those would have been showstoppers.

It seems like SSC alternates the "show stoppers" each year between 1/6 and 1/4 scale. Two years ago 1/6 Jabba had the limelight, last year the Biker Scout PF, this year Vader and the Stormies. Next year we're probably in for some amazing PF's.

The day SS releases a Human 1:1 SW bust, I will eat my 1:6 figs.

Wouldn't Maul and Palpatine be considered humans???

No lonnie. They wouldn't.

I beg to differ. Dig in!

This is a human:

This is something twisted by the dark side... no longer human:

I won't be eating anything anytime soon. You can keep your salt. :D

Star Wars databank also said his species was unknown. I can't find it on SW.com anymore though.

EDIT: I see they changed it, but it used to say "Species: Unknown"

In any case, it matters little. When I say human likeness I mean one without prosthetics and makeup.

I think you can forget seeing glass eye busts from Sideshow, if they haven't done it by now, they're not going too. Going by the Palpatine bust and images I've seen of the T-800, the busts look fine without them.

Odds are SSC will never touch fully human 1:1 busts, but if any character has a chance, I'd say it's Old Ben, he's iconic and his age allows the piece to have more character than Luke or someone, almost a Palpatine type effort. I don't think we'll get a human, but if we do, I'm certain it'll be Old Ben.

I will quote myself:

While Palpatine is a human character, Darth Sidious' disfigurement makes his appearance borderline alien.

I'm thinking the bust choices revolve around what'll sell, what they're allowed (ie MR's restriction on armor and helmet characters), and what designs open up a chance to make an impressive piece.

Luke Skywalker would be cool as a fan of Star Wars, but there's nothing about his face that seeing in 1:1 scale 3D form would drop jaws, but all of the 1:1s to date, including Grievous, have some amazing detailing that really makes you stare in awe at them.
