Herein lies one of the potential problems when they decide to be more forthcoming... and I'm not trying to be a downer (I also LOVE that more answers are being given - it's great!), just urging and reminding everyone to remain realistic:

In this business, plans can change drastically due to many factors (licensing, production, prototyping, etc etc etc), so *nothing* is 100% set in stone until that item is OFFICIALLY announced (meaning official preview and pre-order/in-stock order... and even then, in very very rare instances, plans can change)... for instance - a certain character who is *planned* and prototyped may never see the light of day (for various reasons), or a piece that's planned for later may actually come sooner (also for various reasons).

So... as long as you don't hold them 100% accountable for their frank and honest answers (frank & honest as things stand at *this particular moment in time*), we're all good and they'll continue to share more info. But when people start gathering up their torches and pitchforks because something that was mentioned in a Q&A a year ago doesn't happen quite as planned... that's when it gets not so fun for everyone involved. The Q&A are answers for the plans and intentions as of that particular date... that's why they are dated :) No one has a crystal ball!

So if everyone can please attempt to be flexible and adaptable (and remind others who are not so familiar with the process to be flexible and adaptable as well), the answers will more-than-likely keep coming :duff

Dusty Keep telling the SSC production team to keep working on that Son of Frankenstein SSE PF Figure prototype. ;)

I'll be more than willing to accept the occassional retraction or mind changing or what have you to know at least a little bit more. If you guys are meet these 80% of the time, I think thats acceptable. If you guys are more backtracking on more than that i think that would be a problem.

Playing it too close might make some of us not be hyped enough to care anymore, especially if you happen to hit a patch of figures that that person isn't interested in.

Not sure where to put this, but just wanted to say 'thank you' to Dusty and the rest of the Sideshow team for being a tad more forthcoming with info about projects on the horizon, delay and production issues, demand or lack there of for certain characters, etc. I can certainly appreciate playing things close to the vest and not revealing info till the i's are dotted and such, also the fun of teasing and hinting with the fans, but it's a breath of fresh air to read 'yeah, we're working on a Boromir PF or 1/6 KotCS Indy'. Whatever meeting you guys had was a good one. ;)

Really like this way of disseminating info. Keep up the good work.

Yep! This is a great new direction in their communication!

I do hope it continues, and that people don't start polishing their pitchforks if things mentioned don't actually come around as soon as some would like.

Hear hear! It's fantastic that Sideshow is loosening the kinks in the information hose a little! :naughty

Not that they were particularly sneaky or underhanded before, but it's great that they're being more open with us collectors about future plans. Naturally, they need to keep some secrets ... and that's totally understandable ... but it's terrific that they're doing more to keep us in the loop. :clap

I think one of the important things this new openness does for me is ... it reduces some of the anxiety I've felt in the past about collecting certain lines. It's hard to get excited about a line when you think the plug might secretly get pulled at any moment. (I admit, I did feel a little burned by the LOTR 1/6 line and would have very much appreciated a little heads up before it sank beneath the waves. Knowing the end was coming certainly wouldn't have kept me from buying all the figures, and it might have softened my eventual disappointment.)

Also, economic times are pretty lean right now. Collectibles can get expensive, so it helps in our fiscal planning to know what might be coming around the bend. Plus there's a certain amount of spender's anxiety that can attach itself to some of these purchases. So anything Sideshow can do to calm my fears is hugely welcome.

Obviously plans are subject to change. But I think we collectors will definitely be understanding as long as we're kept in the loop just a little bit. We don't have to sit in on Sideshow's staff meetings, but as long as decisions are explained to us a little, I don't think we'd be sharpening any pitchforks unduly.

After all, we're reasonable people around here ...

Okay, most of us are reasonable people ...

Well, some of us are reasonable ...

A few of us ...

Okay, okay, fine.

Reasonable people exist.

Out there.

Somewhere. :D

But the point being ... THANK YOU, SIDESHOW. Thanks for keeping us informed!

Hi Dusty,
I totally understand and only take it as a general guide for future planning and hence saving up. If something that I wanted shows up a bit earlier then I adjust plans, but even then, once placed up for order, its still lke 3-6 months away from shipping. If a possible future statue that may have happened then doesn't, o'well, I move on to the next thing.

What I would say, is that if something was mentioned or suggested in a Q&A for like 9 months time and all of a sudden one of those many things that can stuff it all up happens or looks likely to happen, then the frank exchange continues and we get 'continuous' updates then I'm sure just about all will be happy.

And those that aren't can get stuffed :duh
