Re: Rhino Comiquette - ON SALE NOW - use link in first post!

It's even weirder when they wait 4 months to jump on the WL then panic and ask a billion times if we think their WL will convert.

those days r gone.............:( not on single waitlist

Re: Rhino Comiquette - ON SALE NOW - use link in first post!

re-releasing statues would start a riot. ask bowen how that worked out

re-release?? i m talking abt waitlist Sideshow usually found rare old Statues in warehouse for that waitlist :wink1:

Really? What Bowen statue has been re-released? Are you talking about the variant statues with different paint jobs or some small difference in a statue that allows BD to make some extra cash off the same sculpt?

Thank God SSC doesn't do that to us. I mean what would I do with 3 Elektra Coms, 3 Spidey PFs, 2 Hulk PFs, 2 Iron Man Coms, 2 Elektra PFs, a Thing PF with different sized shorts, etc.........

Wait until Bowen figures out he can toss an art print in with his statues, charge more for it AND not have to give a discount on his pieces. Then he'll be playing with real power.

This has always been about making money for both companies. Nothing more, nothing less. Both companies use variants/re-releases to that end.

Sideshow has collectible integrity

correct me if i'm incorrect, bust sidesow has never released the same version of the same character in the same format right?

for example, Colossus:

1x PF
1x Comiquette
1x LSB
1x Dio

Wrong. There are 3 EXACT same Eleltra Coms that basically only have 3 different colored costumes. How about the Hulk Com that was turned into Rulk. Iron Man Com that was re-released as stealth Iron Man. Not to mention the early PFs that were offered in the EXACT same sculpt with different clothes...Thing PF with different size shorts, 3 Spidey PFs (classic, retro, neg zone), and the Hulk PF (green & grey version). Don't for a minute think SSC won't make re-releases/variants for the sole purpose of making a money grab. They already have and it won't stop anytime soon. So long as people are willing to spend dollars on the same sculpt with minor tweaks, SSC (and others) will be there to take your money.

Re: Rhino Comiquette - ON SALE NOW - use link in first post!

So repaints yeah, but not the same colour scheme released again as i said "not the same version of the same character in the same format"

The Thing PF was not repainted. 2 of the Spidey PFs were not repainted (retro just had black cloth were there was blue). The point of fact is that all of the statues I listed above were copies of sculpts that were released. Ink implied BD re-releases statues. Then I see people here hold up SSC as a company that would never do that to it's collectors because they have INTEGRITY and BD does not. That's all a bunch of BS. BD has never re-released the EXACT same statue twice. They ALL had some minor changes made to them. Same as SSC has done with the statues I have mentioned. Ink is wrong to accuse BD of re-releases. They are no more guilty of it than SSC. As I have already said....it's all about the money for both companies. There is nothing wrong with that.

filip629 is correct, SS releases variants of the same statue, it just seems they've slowed down on it in recent years.

As for the same version of the same character in the same format, give it some time. For popular characters it will happen. SS isn't making money from extreme secondary market values. Sure, they don't want to oversaturate, which would hurt them in at least two ways, but after so many years why not do another classic Steve Rogers Cap or Spidey? Say 8-10 years out, over saturation isn't a problem amngst newer customers who want the product, and its guaranteed sales from a fresher market. No brainer.

Even now the new Jack Sparrow PF doesn't look to be in a different costume (I could be wrong) and the new Red Skull PF seems to only have slight differences in what he's wearing. Even the standing pose isn't enough of a change.

Everything you said was on point but I have to disagree with "it's all about the money". Of course money is a major factor, they have to stay in business, but with anything involving art I think there's a degree of interest involved, even if it's a small degree. I can't imagine every project comes up just from a sales perspective and none are born out of interest in the project, like "hey, it'd be fun to do (insert character)". I think with an artistic business it's a varying mix of both passion from the artists and what makes sense as far as gaining profit. I'll agree though they're not gonna do something they think won't sell, whether it eventually does or doesn't.

PS, One thing I hate is when people say stuff like there were 3 Spidey PFs. There was ONE Spidey PF, released in 3 variations, very much like what Bowen does.

I agree 100% with everthing you said peedi. Of course there is passion from the fans that are demanding these variants. A perfect example for me was BDs latest Cap statue. It is I believe the 6th or 7th version of the classic museum Cap. When Randy 1st previewed the classic museum Cap it had a metallic paint job. It looked incredible. However, fans _____ed and moaned that the costume should have a flat paint. Randy relented and changed it to a flat paint scheme. I was pissed. The orginal proto went into the vault and Randy had no plans of releasing it. I purchased the flat paint museum Cap but was never really content.

For YEARS after that, I and many others pleaded with Randy to release the proto. He kept saying no. Well after seeing just how many peeps wanted that version of Cap, he released a new metallic Museum Cap in the proto colors. He made a few changes. He gave the piece an Avengers base and tightened up the star on his chest and the A on his forehead. All these changes made the statue even better than the original proto IMHO. Needless to say, I PO'd that piece ASAP. Now, I can say I'm content with my purchase.

Randy made money, his fan base got a staue they wanted made, and all is well. Any seasoned collector knows variants are a part of the game. No use in complaining about it. Buy what you like, pass on whatever you don't like.

I've seen several statues launched that I'm quite surprised about. Characters that have a smaller following that have to be originated from a personal interest somewhere.
