Re: sideshow snake eyes photo thread

Man. I wish Sideshow would re-release this figure with a better body, or at the very least his outfit and mask without the body.

Re: sideshow snake eyes photo thread

So I just checked my email and out of the blue my waitlist for the Exclusive Snake Eyes just converted! I had given up hope and even forgotten that I left the reservation intact.
Woohooo! Now if my Stormshadow would convert I am SET!

As a harsh critic of this figure when the official product shots were released I would say that the figure is okay as is. Is it $119 okay? No. Could it have used a better body? Sure. Should we have to spend more money to fix what should've been squared away from the factory to begin with? Absolutely not. But as collectors many of us will find something to add to or take away from it in order to make it unique in some way. I've spent a lot of money on figure sets, as much as complete boxed figures, so I consider this the same as buying a set that included a body. A body some people will be content with while others will loathe.

Re: sideshow snake eyes photo thread

Snake Eyes needs his commando backpack, so I picked up the black one worn by the Hot Toys CIA Commando off ebay. Not only does it give more padding to his shoulders but it even has straps on the side to hold his vintage sword. Perfect for a classic 1985 look. Bring on Timber!

^Looks very cool that way.

That looks pretty sweet!

I prefer Snakes to look more Ninja-like without all the bulk, that said- That Snake Eyes looks dead on to his '85 counterpart! Great job Khev :rock

Awesome, Khev! Just awesome! :rock

Great idea! I'll have to pick up a backpack myself.

Thanks guys! I figured my 1985 homies Mando and karamazov would appreciate it. :D

I was equally inspired by both the vintage figure and his 1986 Cobra Island raid with SS in Marvel issues 46 and 47. In the comics he wears a backpack with actual should straps and carries a short stock uzi with silencer.

A very easy mod. I picked up the HT Cia Commando pack for $19 shipped from a Hong Kong dealer on ebay but I'm sure savvier 1/6 collectors can find one for less. It really is my dream SE figure and will probably be my prized figure from here on out. I'm glad that SSC made one so spectacular and with so many display options.

After trying real hard not to fall for this line, skipping Snake Eyes, pre-ordering Cobra Commander and cancelling and trying not to pre-order Storm Shadow I finally caved.

Bought Snake Eyes and pre-ordered Storm Shadow.

Was gonna just leave him on the pro, because some of the pics here definitely look good in the shoulder area, but I just can't stand the pro now that I have it in hand. The shoulders still look great, but the arms are horrible, and I hate how all the joints seem to bend both forward and back. The arms might be no big deal on someone with loose fitting clothes like Indy, but in a skin tight shirt the elbows just look downright atrocious when they're in any position other than straight. And his torso bothers me too. He kept slouching anytime I tried posing him, so I turned his midsection around backwards, and he stands straight now. Also added some padding to his stomach to try to mask that horrible chest to abs articulation seam.

Have a set of goggles and a sweater on the way for him. I'll eventually be getting a different body too.

And just a small nitpick, but the non-uniform seams on the mask bug me a bit. Has anyone taken the balaclava completely off? Looks like it could use some futzing.

Greetings to fellow collectors - I am a noob here and here is my 1st post.... I hope u all like it :)

Here is my version of customized Sideshow Snake Eyes - just a body swap and some minor additions.
I used HT's rubber muscle body to get that look of Snake Eyes's body that we see in the comics.

Here are some comparison pictures with my Custom Solid Snake (True Type Body) and Liquid Snake (Rocky III muscle body) against my SE's (HT's billy muscle body)

Let me know what you all think :)

I think it looks great. If that's how you envision him you did a great job. Not to take anything away from you, but to me snake eyes was always supposed to be somewhat lean and not muscled up. More like an all-around athlete. Think decathalon or soccer player. A guy with strength, yes, but more about stamina, agility, and flexibility. It's just how I envision him.

But again looks good. Nicely done.

It looks good. I was going to switch him over to that body a while back, but decided against it because height might be an issue when posed next to other figures in the line. I could be wrong, but isnt that body a lot taller than the pro? How does he look next to Cobra Comander?
