Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

well that sucks, that would bother the hell out of me, but i knew this piece would have these paint app issues to begin with.

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

#301/650 Spiderman Ex Comiquette is in my house!!!!!! Ya hear that people?!!!

Man, the details on this thing is mind blowing! Like my head is gonna be the size of the Leader's head. The crack on the wall, connection of the wood/window/wall, the girder/wide-flange(I-Beam) beam, and the screw on the power outlet to mention the few. Spidey himself is awesome. I have to admit there's some smearing of the line but not bad. There's a couple of lines missing on his casting forearm(below and opposite the connection end of his removeable arm) but are mostly hidden. The seam or connection of his casting forearm is somewhat wide but its not much noticeable since it blend in with the line of his costume. The magnet are strong but seam could be a little closer. His head and neck are perfect to me. No smearing or missing line. Strangely, the rest of the defects in the paint only add depts/realism to me. I have no problem with the fading of the letters at the bottom of the base as its more of a rustic style like partially peeling paints on a real brick wall that shows true aging.
Overall, this is a keeper and is a must if you're a true Spidey fan. IMO, this is the best Spidey statue to date. Unlike me, if you own Venom and/or Carnage comiquette, you can't miss this.

I also got a bonus from Sideshow: a free calendar that I asked for on another thread. I think I am gonna go ask Mistress of the Web or Sideshow for a red Ferrari next!! Wish me luck. LOL

That's what I was hoping for, but did not get. BTW, mine is number 228, if folks are keeping track. Getting a mid-range number though I ordered so late makes me wonder if this was a return. . .here are some pics of his head, as an example of the sloppiness I'm talking about:

You can see a few places where the lines veer out of the little crevices or don't match up, sloppiness around his eyes, generally inconsistent paint on the lines. Bah. Sending this one back and crossing fingers, I think.

Can't wait for Wednesday!:blissy

Yea, I only have a fraction of the defects you have on his face/eye. I think my Spidey's eye is just as perfect as it gets. You have the right to note it and return it....its up to you. But I would suggest everyone to be lenient on the rest of his body. Spidey is the guy who design and fabricate his own costume. Unless you count Fantastic Four or IM, then its another story LOL.

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

I was being a bit more lenient on the rest, particularly since you can't see it very well when posed. But it is even worse there:

Face though, that's a deal-breaker for me.

Yea, your spidey seems to have more missing lines and smudges than usual, I think. I think your Spidey's foot is ok since he doesn't have line at the bottom anyway. And one foot is against the wall. Maybe the camera exaggerate a bit? I don't know for sure, but mine's ended evenly at the side's edge. I display him at the corner but even if I display him 2 feet away, I wouldn't noticed much except for his face. Too bad I don't have a descent camera.

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

And yea, you can't mess with the face. I have to admit, I have a paint dot the size of a grain of sand at the black part of the base. I scratched 1/3 of it off I think. Barely noticeable. Might as well be a speck of dust.

Overall, its such an awesome statue at a definite 1/4 scale.

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

The foot pic is more to show where the 2 lines fail to meet at the top. Not something I care much about, but just more evidence of the generally sloppy paint apps here. I have filled out the return request, so we'll see what happens.

As I look more at the eyes, I get the impression a "quick fix" to a previous return might have been attempted with some hap-hazard painting there, as the red is a slightly different shade and the lines frequently do not meet his eyes.

Bummer.

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

Yea, good luck to you.

I'll be trying to get an exchange for my cracked Hulk 1:1 bust. Seller offered a $30 to save us both the trouble but I already paid less than full price so an extra shipping back to seller isn't gonna hurt for a piece of mind. I am still disappointed that the bust is sooo hollow and paint on the face is so flat. Strange that his shoulder got more dept. Maybe Sideshow or whoever design/sculpt/painted this bust decided that his huge overhanged forehead will add a natural shadow and dept to this bust. What a failure.

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

Here is my EX with messed up base, paint chip under right eye, and smeared black paint throughout the face and chin. Waiting to hear back from Sideshow. Hoping to get a replacement:

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

EX #481 in da house. Even came with the print.:lol WOW...this piece is SICK!!!!! Da best Spidey statue EVER made. Very happy to say no paint issues and everything looks great. Man, my luck held out. I was very nervous about my last 2 pieces from SSC. All those horror stories and posts about the defective Thanos and Spidey pieces had me worried. Both of mine arrived with no issues. Phew!

This is flat out a must have piece for any true Spidey fan.
Magnificent SSC... well done!:clap

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

At first glance it looks great but really close inspection brings out the flaws and the paint smudges and incomplete lines. I think I got a typical one, not worse than usual and not better. I am glad that at least there's no squiggly lines, that would bother me the most. The flaws are not really noticeable at a reasonable viewing distance which looks awesome. Anyway, mine has minor dings on the foot that were painted over. For a $400 statue, I have to say that sideshow really screwed this one up on the QC end. Sideshow needs to clean up their factories and stick with the good ones. Do actual inspections and not just stick a stupid meaningless sticker on the box.
