Years ago I used to have my figures double boxed since I had a couple arrive in banged up condition. I stopped that once they started charging more for it. And really, I haven't had any problems since. I certainly don't have a problem with the product name on the box since I sign for everything.

My T-1000 arrived in mint condition, btw. :yess:

SS always goes the cheap route, i thought this was common knowledge. Guess not!

Remember they "Spare no expense":rotfl

I understand some really like their boxes to be just perfect. If mine has a ding or two I don't care. As long as the item inside is fine thats what I'm buying.

Why are you here again?:dunno

If I felt this way about a company I sure as hell wouldn't be on a board that is geared towards said company.

I 100% agree with what's being said here. My guardian predator show up in HT shipper only and big bent corner, which transferred to the collector box.

My switch to cornerstone is not only cheaper, but double boxed, and sometimes quicker than direct from SS. Hence I canceled my SS orders and cornerstone got them all.

People who complain about wanting mint shippers should probably see their doctor about a prescription strength stool softener.

Oh Nammie....the topic isn't about "mint shippers".. :1-1:

It's about the fact that those shipper boxes from SS don't really give much protection. 1/8th an inch of cardboard ain't much. granted pretty much all of the 1/6th I've gotten from SS have arrived in good condition, but the convo isn't about that....It's about why can the middle man pack the figure in an extra box with padding along with a 10% discount but SS won't.. :wave

However... Every so often SS will use the foam corner pieces/and/or tops with their 1/6th figures for added protection.. (SW) *cough* that I like. :yess:

While I rarely see the OP do anything more than complain I will say that I am not a big fan of the extremely crumbly foam that SS has switched to for quite a bit of their product. :gah: It has also been known to do more damage comparably to product with rubbing etc -- Patient Zero PF comes to mind.

Yup. I hate that stuff, you have to break out the vacuum afterwards. Plus it breaks down after a couple uses. It's all signs of cutting corners... However, some items come in great packaging. I don't understand why some pieces good packaging and other not so much. I guess just different factories and QC/shipping/design/materials operations.

Hopefully SS is taking note of the dissatisfaction.

Edit: and Thrifty, those corners also good for only one use. When they fail, the box can rattle and bounce around, not good. I've had this happen to me. When I double box on expensive items, that air space is filled with peanuts. ... Wait, you know this, cause you got ny Sauron shipped securely, at a great price I might add.

Guess you won't be using that free shipping then?

The HT stuff I've gotten from sideshow like the the war machine bust and mark vi came double boxed. My gi Joe stuff is in it's box then just the brown shipper but comes fine.

After I take the figure out of it's box I pretty much never look at it again.

Funny Josh. I had to recently do a purge on my SS PO's due to space and other concerns. And I haven't even looked up what item it was that Chicky gave me free on. But since I have reduced my orders to what I really want, I should be able to take advantage of it.

Edit: thanks again for the free Shipping Chicky. Awesome CS goes a long way with tou guys.

I think SS needs to hear this sort of feedback. Hell, it's a 24/7 focus group that you don't have to pay or buy lunch for.

If you get a figure with a bent box, pick up the phone, and call to get a replacement. Not understanding where the difficulty is there. :huh

I'm not interested in the condition of a box. I'm interested in the product.

I say use the bare minimal amount of protection to insure that the product itself is safe.

wow, I am suprised no one is complaining about the switch from protective styrofoam sheets to plain plasic bags (Wol PF,tmnt,pz,ect). Guess cardboard is the main concern here. I am gonna file a refund the next time I see oil streaks all over the brown shipper.

;)

Im terrible when it comes to box condition , i hate crushed corners and creases.
That is on everything though , especially statues as you pay so much money and they arrive crushed.
I personally have never actually ordered from sideshow direct so i can't say anything about them , i ordered my first ever statue from play.com (hitman agent 47) and WOW! they put the statue with no brown shipper in a blue polythene bag ,it arrived hammered every corner was crushed flat.
I had to get a replacement but in the end they sent it in its shipper mint.
Also with me living in the UK im not sure how the item is packed , as i would hate it to be sent just in the shipper with all the details of what is inside all over the box.
I have pre-ordered the new Terminator statue so time will tell for me i guess.

Cheers

Jay

Uh oh someone said something bad about your beloved SS again:panic: you MUST reply!

You don't know ____ about how i feel about SS so GTFO! (fact is SS needs a a kick in the ass when it comes to QC of all kinds PERIOD. Awesome customer service is not an excuse for lax in this area)

I kinda like the plastic bags. As long as there isn't paint rubs the plastic bags don't fall apart like the foam sheets do.

You complain an awful lot about SS products. You don't have to like them, but for someone who spends a decent amount of time here, more often than not, you're bashing. It gets old. That's what Josh is saying. You can turn around my comment and say that I'm some kind of SS apologist and thus my statement isn't valid, but except for Nam, most of us are pretty even-keeled here.

WTF?! :dunno:monkey1

Josh can validate I'm an SS ballbuster. Maybe not to the extent of the hating trolls like OSCORP, Webb and kl241, but I call foul when they put out garbage. :lol

Don't take it personally, but I find that an argument gains credibility by citing you as an extremist. :wave
