Is it me, or is Sideshow leaving half their business on the table. They should have a whole division devoted to nothing but Beautiful themed display cases. Sorta like bestas, but a smidge more high end. Its a shame we spend all this money on these works of art and have to put them in plain book cases or whatever. Every now and then they sell little dinky cases. Why not at least give us something that will fit a premium format. I know custom cases are great and all. But Sideshow should be front and center on this, imo.

You make a valid point, however I'm not a big fan of single piece display cases. I prefer something that can hold multiple items and give my collection room to grow. It is unfortunate that the only real options are $60 detolfs or $3-5k trophy cases.

I think its more of a shipping issue than anything. Anyone trying to order even a simple detolf from IKEA will understand just how expensive shipping can be on these things. Its not like Sideshow has warehouse throughout the country (or world) that you could go and pick one up at. The shipping could be equal to the price of the cabinet in some cases, and therefore just not worth it. It would certainly be a cool thing for them to do, but its just cost prohibitive I think. I can't imagine they sell very many of the 1:1 full statues and I would think the sales of cabinets would be about equal or slightly less than those. If shipping weren't a factor, I could see something like this being very popular. Someone like IKEA or another nationwide/global furniture chain (or maybe something like FYE/Best Buy) would have to partner with them for it to even become remotely possible. And even then only new, popular licenses like Marvel, Star Wars, or DC would probably do well enough for retailer interest. You won't get your horror or cult classic cabinets made anytime soon through that venture.

I do find it odd they don't at least recommend a good cabinet or display mantle for certain products. Makes you wonder if they take into account item sizes based on popular shelves like detolfs or billys from IKEA. If something isn't easy to display for most folks, it makes it harder to sell to them. Certainly an interesting aspect to the hobby to consider. I, like many others, prefer the detolfs because they look nice and are very cheap. $60 beats the $500+ a nice wooden cabinet will run you, and with likely less visible retail space. Detolfs can be viewed 360 if desired. But they don't hold large statues. They're good for 1:6 mostly and smaller PFs.

I think it's less a missed opportunity and more one that just doesn't make financial sense. These would basically be in the middle of ikea displays and custom cabinets. So right there you'd have displays that would be more expensive than the premium formats they're displaying. Add to that shipping costs (people complain now about PFF shipping quotes but this would be insane). The other thing is that due to the cost and probably the niche market that would want them, there just wouldn't be a huge demand for them. Doing only a handful would mean they'd cost a fortune.

In the end sideshow would probably be eating a ton of money by making them.

Or basically what buttmunch said.

I think they could sell acrylic display cases with there statues, Imagine if they showed Sideshow spiderman PF in a lighted acrylic case and offered it as an add on for $150.00 I think they would sell a bunch

They did for a while. Limited sizes though.

I was thinking they need big ones to fit these larger 1/4, would be nice if some had rotating bases (the new iron studios spider-man is awesome from alot of angles) Some of these new 1/4 are massive so it would be nice if they fit them all . Or maybe have three different 1/4 size ones since not all 1/4 are the same

This was just posted recently:

I bought a similar one early in the year but it was a lot taller and lacked the revolving feature. I was not happy with it... too cramped even for 1/6 figs, it had a touch feature to turn the lights on that hardly ever worked. Sometimes you had to hit the thing hard to turn them on, having you to take the fig out. Overall was not impressed for the price. Ended up getting Besta cabinets instead.

This is why I posed the question. Cuz I knew I'd get some kick ass answers, that make a ton of sense. But damn that would be cool to have a six stall Marvel themed display case for PFs, with a Sideshow logo carved in it. LoL

What I don't get is why Sideshow not building housing units/apartments and such, in which these cases could be displayed.
Missed opportunities all over.

Ha!!! They could call it the Inception case. Have a case within a case, and in that case have Ironman on a revolving base holding a case. Yeah that's the ticket.
