Awesome. :rock

Wow.

Fascinatingly, even thought the changes are subtle, they're tricking my eyes into thinking she's actually smiling more in the V2. Amazing.

:clap:clap:clap

It's the eyes. The retouched makeup and darkened eyes are creating more focus on the eyes themselves, making them seem more dramatically expressive as if the eyes are more squinted like when somebody smiles. And the brighter lips project a more happy feeling. Interesting, huh?

Did you mask off the face before painting the hair? Such a sharp line.

The client had some very specific aspects in mind with this piece to make it even more his ideal of what Audrey looked like in that movie. I was happy to make the adjustments. Nope, that's not Photoshop.

Audrey Hepburn as seen in Roman Holiday. Sculpted by Rainman

The first pass on this sculpt was amazing! It's always exciting to see where Nathan goes with his paint skills, but as beautiful as it was, it just wasn't quite right for me. I love Audrey Hepburn and I have a fairly clear image of her based on her earlier films and photos, most of which are in black & white or colorized photos. Her eyes may have been hazel in true life, but for me, her eyes were a darker color and some kind of brown. I know she had a good amount of make up as is common in old Hollywood, so I wanted Nathan to make those adjustments in hopes of making her softer and more youthful if that was even possible. I think he did it to perfection, or at least to what I had envisioned! This is what's so amazing with Nathan, that he can rework a beautiful paint job into something even better! I'm glad Nathan didn't mind making the adjustments for me! It was tough as everyone seemed to love the first version, but in the end I had to think about what would make me happy and satisfied as it was my personal commission afterall. How do you tell a master that he could still make some adjustments or improve on something else? Boy, it wasn't easy and I felt like I might insult him somehow. So glad he was there to listen and hopefully I was right in making those calls. I know I'm very very very happy with the result! I hope you all agree too! Nathan, you are the man! :yess:

Even better! :clap Lucky guy!

Thanks, bro! I can't believe I will have a 1/6 Audrey of my dreams in the collection soon! I missed Rainman's original release of this figure since I didn't even know about him & his work at the time, so I was very happy to grab a head sculpt when he made them available again a few months back! :hi5:

I agree! Not only does she appear younger and softer (to me at least), she does seem to have a bit more of a smile to her (at least in the pics)! As you said, amazing..! :exactly:

This is why Nathan has all but ruined other painters for me. He consistently accomplishes the seemingly impossible task of delivering exactly what us fickle collectors envision in our mind's eye.

:lecture:lecture:lecture This is why i just sent him a box of stuff! No matter that I will need a second mortgage! :yess:

Incredible. I can't believe how the paint has almost make it look like a new sculpted expression. Incredible. You. You got a gift my friend.

Thanks again for all the compliments. Emarae, no reason to feel bad about asking me to make it even better. It's that high demand and my desire to satisfy that has elevated me to the level I'm at. While I can now achieve incredible things (even to me) with some ease these days, it didn't happen without a lot of failure, a lot of scrutinizing pressure, and innumberable hours of experience.

Thank you to all the fans, the collectors/customers, and amazing sculptors who create such amazing works of art for me to put my work of art on. I sometimes think I get more credit for how good a head looks than I deserve because I know that a good sculpt makes all the difference. In this case, Rainman should get at least as much credit for this as me. Great sculpt.

Me too! Nathan's will be the decisive paint for a lot of people I imagine, although I've pretty much decided I'm going to pass on WGP's sculpt. I just love the crap out of my current sculpt, and I think it still has the edge in several areas.

I hear you on that. I loved Trev's SSC sculpt, but the size of it and the nuclear material it was made out of ruined it for me sadly. I'm hoping this will be the definitive one for me so I can finally stop messing with that custom... :yess:

Nathan, I love how you always strive to improve what you're doing and help us collectors achieve what we are looking for in a piece. Fantastic revisions on that Hepburn! I too would love to see a Catwoman version painted up by you.
