Great work on the Myers Joebizz... where did you find the splayed right hand?

Just like DarthMagnus said they are Hot Toys King Leonidas hands. Both the left and right hand work great for this figure. Another good option for the open left hand if you can't find this one would be the left hand from Assassine's Creed. I have one of those and was going to use that until I was lucky enough to find the Leonidas pair.

Thanks for the props everyone.

The coveralls were the biggest challenge. Silent warned me not to use the Saturday Toys Orange colored ones because dying it would be a nightmare. However that was the only one still around that I could find. So what I did was grab an orange one, used fabric paint on it to make it brown. Any color at first would make something orange brown basically. After that, I then bleached the entire outfit so that it turned into a lighter faded brown almost tan color. Now I was in business. I then dyed it the color I wanted to give it that greenish blue color. I painted and covered up the orange stitches after the fact to give it as close to a solid color as I could. All in all it worked out pretty good.

He did do a great job on that head. I look forward to having work done by him someday. :rock2

Good of you to post pics of his work here, those pics definitely belong here. :)

No worries, guys. As long as the talk is somewhat related to my work, feel free to post back and forth. It keeps my thread fresh for lurkers to find.

Besides, if you hadn't posted your latest comments I wouldn't have known about the Gallery of Horror thread. How could I have missed that this whole year?

Thanks guys.

Hey Nathan,

Speaking of keep your thread fresh, I have a question for you or advice if you will. I have begun working on a Jason custom and it is coming together nicely so far. I actually am sculpting out the head this time and trying it out to see how I do. So far the head is looking good and I have a great hockey mask for it. I am going back and forth trying to decide which look to go for with this figure. I was thinking about attempting Part 8 since it is not as common. I have seen some others do it and it turned out great but it defintely is more challenging with the exception of Part 7 New Blood maybe. So my question is if I wanted to go for it what would you recommend using to give the clothing a wet slimy look? I have done some stuff in the past that kind of works but for Jason it really needs to look somewhat wet. Do you have any technics or tips on what to use to achieve that type of look?

Thanks,
Ron

Hey Ron,

Thanks for hitting me up on your custom questions. I could figure that out and give you some advice, but I think the best thing I could do for you is suggest you talk to elvis about this figure. I think he's done several very nice Jason customs with wet effects. At least I think it was him. He's the man for clothing weathering advice on your project right now.

Ok thanks, I will give him a shout and ask.

I agree. Sounds like a question for ELVIS1976.

Yeah he actually PM'd me back with a lot of good tips. He said to spray the figure with gloss varnish and that will give the look I need. I saw his figures and wow they are incredible so yeah he was defintely the right guy to ask. Thanks.

I think what might be more fun to do is make my own version which honors several different versions of him. I don't know, I'll see. I'm so confused and torn. LOL :slap

I have nothing against doing personalized compilation representations as I myself gave the FvJ Jason his trademark axe cut in the mask and forehead, but I think the most impressive thing when customizing is to pick a version and get as screen accurate as possible. And since there is no official part 8 Jason figure out there, I say stick with that idea.

That said, I always hated the face on part 8. It just doesn't make any sense given what he looked like before that movie. I would love to see part 8 done in a more logical way.

Don't stress out about it. Have fun. Feel the character as you go. Be the character. Remember, you don't have to show anybody until it looks perfect, so if you make mistakes, or it just doesn't look right to you when you think you are done, rework it, rework it, and then rework it some more. Don't get tunnel vision. Keep stepping back and looking at the whole picture. Look at it in a mirror to give yourself a fresh perspective.:wink1:

Dude, when reading this I felt like the Rocky theme should start playing in the background. :lol

You are right. I am going for it. I'm going pure part 8. I agree the face was weird in that movie so i might have to think about that but other than that, it WILL be part 8 all the way. If I can nail it with his hockey mask on that will be great in itself. I'm new to sculpting so I'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the opinion. :yess:
