Re: Skiman's Custom Workshop [Sculpting, Painting, Modding, etc...]

Ski, fantastic work on "The Lady."

Without the hair, she has that sexy vibe which reminds me of Ilia from Star Trek: The Motion Picture....

Looks incredible, so far! I can't wait to see the whole portrait. I am very curious to see how the hair is done and how it turns out. In a collecting world where that aspect is always under the microscope, it is cool to see it when it works well!

Thank you DC! :rock

Love the bangs and the 5 O'clock shadow. Who is it?

Took me a few seconds to figure it out too. Not sure I would've if it weren't for the paint apps. :lecture

Re: Skiman's Custom Workshop [Sculpting, Painting, Modding, etc...]

A little announcement to my fellow Skimaniacs!!! :rock I think a lot felt this moment coming along as this year is passing. I'm closing the doors down on private commissions. I've been looking and have sort of soul searched myself to be challenged once again so I'm going back to my roots on sculpting. I'm not sure that I'll do private commissioning for sculpting but I'm definitely in need of creating my own sculpts once again. I love where the art direction is going with all I've brought to the table in the past years and I've had a lot of fun building, painting, modding others collections but I think it's time for me to focus on my own.

That being said, whatever is over at the shop will be completed of course and no worries on said exchanged deals that have been confirmed for painting, etc... its all safe. If messages were sent and nothing has been confirmed or sent over, I'm sorry that is where the cut off has to lie at this point. I will still be painting for companies and subcontracting and of course I'll try to share as much as I can with those and keep the excitement on those projects but that's pretty much it on the painting front.

I may or may not come back to full swing on painting commissions, I'm really not sure at this point... turnaround times may change, rates may change or maybe nothing will change. I guess it kind of just depends what my priorities are at the time if I feel like picking up the brush for commissions once again.

Godspeed my fellow friends, live long and prosper.

I truly appreciate the support as always,

Hello my friends, I just wanted to update this statement here again just because I'm still getting a lot of traffic with messages for more commission items.

I'm definitely locked down as this is not really a break from painting it's more of a done deal until I feel different if that time will ever come. I really hate being the bad guy in this as I do enjoy painting and making clients happy with custom pieces in their collection. I really do, nothing brings me joy of seeing full customs built from my aid in the process, I live vicariously through the photos in collections and it's always awesome to hear whenever someone is satisfied with the work being done.

That being said, I think there's a misunderstanding to what my position is on the subject. Please do not take this the wrong way but some members may believe that more $$$ is enticing to maybe approve of work to be accepted. This is definitely not the case fellas. I never got into customs because I felt like I needed money, it has never been about that. There's no amount that can up the project into acceptance, simply because that doesn't matter to me. I did/do this because I love the craft, the clients, the fun that comes with collectibles...collaborations with other artists, etc... Like I said, please do not take this the wrong way but I'm a little different animal as maybe some may think/stereotype as a "starving artist", actually it's really so far from the truth. All of the projects can be or are funded straight from my pocket on supplies and so forth, there's no need for deposits etc... I make a great living, I was/am a collector and as many knew me before the custom gigs took off, I bought/buy almost anything I ever wanted for my collection and I still do. This was never my full time job and for sure doesn't provide towards any income for my family or food on the table. It was/is for the love of the craft.

Again I'm sorry if this stings anyone, I do not mean for it be this way but in order for me to move on forward with what I want to create I need to be strict and put the foot down. I still want to make great items, share, put runs together and so forth but the necessary steps must take place before any of that happens. I've even been in talks with perhaps a few apprentices that have contacted me. So maybe a team can be formed in order to take on the new, up and growing volumes.

I'm sorry to have to state this again but I felt it was necessary and maybe the volumes of request can be lessened. I know there will still be many that don't see this post but hopefully it helps. Everything that is being shown is from the backlog or items I have agreed to before the deadline was set, there's still many great items to post and I hope everyone enjoys the sharing of them!

As always, thanks for the support my friends!!!

All the best ski man with whatever you do;)

" I've even been in talks with perhaps a few apprentices that have contacted me. So maybe a team can be formed in order to take on the new, up and growing volumes."

Like the sound of that.
Passing on your skills and setting up the ski school of **** hot sculpt painting;)
So you'd be the man from del monte and give the final thumbs up or down if the paint ups ain't up to scratch?;)
Shame I couldn't afford to own some of your work, but am glad to have seen them and lived vicariously through others kick *** paintjobs you've done.
Looking forward to whatever the next skicarnation is;)
