Ew.

I don't have those, but I have a girlfriend who is always fighting them. She just cuts them off with cuticle scissors or nail clippers. Owie!

oh, so that's what they are. I used to have a few small ones. bleed like hell. I thought maybe I am a mutant with some extra nipples.

Yup. I used to have a couple of very small ones on my neck and the inside of my elbow. I cut the one on the neck with clippers. Hurt like hell and bled like it too! :gah:

Does anyone know why they occur?

Cutting them off with nail clippers, daaaaamn! I'd want a couple of stiff shots of liquor before I went down that road.

Google reckons they're the result of "bunches of collagen and blood vessels which are trapped inside thicker bits of skin" and "believed to be the result of skin rubbing against skin", ie in skin creases and folds.

this ain't so bad. I used to have a few wart on my palm. they say if you handle frogs a lot, you'll get wart but that's just a saying. not like I play with frogs anyway. so I keep cutting them with my nail clipper. I would bleed, heal, bleed, heal, bleed, until its gone. I had to keep doing it until I got the veins out. it was getting big as a mole and good thing I did it early and no scars.

With a wart you can tie a piece of thread around it really tight and it will, in a sense, kill it.

They have something out now for skin tags but I have no idea if it works or not.

My nephew had one of these on his forehead for years. Finally managed to get rid of it after a few freeze treatments.

I had a wart on the palmside of my pinkie knuckle when i was a kid. I stupidly used a serated knife and cut it, bled like a sonova--

You can get freeze treatments from a supermarket or pharmacy (drugstore). I wouldn't be cutting them off, they're a virus - leave any behind and up they come again.

It was about the size of half a grain of rice and thin toward the base so I thought it wouldn't hurt and/or bleed much but.....

Thicker bits of skin, eh? Armpits and inner elbow doesn't have much thicker skin comparatively yet these are the areas where they occur.
