Hi I am pretty new to the forum (been browsing for awhile and signed up yesterday), but I am a huge Star Wars and DC Female Villians and Heros fan. I have maquettes and kotos, and mostly action figures I have a few statues on pre-order, including the GG Slave Leia.
Ok, little history about me before the story. I am a costumer, I have numerous costumes and one of those costumes is Slave Leia. With all my costumes I collect statues/maquettes/action figures for reference and because I also really like collecting.
Alright so on with the story. I traveled to Dragon Con this summer... amazing time! Anyways so I went to the Artist Alley to meet one of my favorite guys, Adam Hughes. He was busy at his table chatting with people, so I thought I would flip through his portfolio... but someone was doing that already so I just waited kind on the side of the table checking out his sketch book he was selling. I was kinda looking at him, seeing when he was finished talking to the person and I caught his eye... and he looked at me kinda strangely.... then he pointed at me and said, "you, get over here!"
Flabbergasted, I budded in front of everyone, everyone was looking at me... and he asked me "did you have a Asajj Ventress costume at Celebration 3?" So I said yes, but that I couldn't believed that he remembered cause that Convention was like April 2005.... but he remembered and that was cool, so I guess it must be a good costume. Then (this is the cool part) he told me he liked my Slave Leia costume too. Now I did not have the Slave Leia costume at Celebration 3 (I completed the costume March 2006)... nor was I wearing it at the time this conversation was going on... so I was like... "huh? when have you seen me in my Slave Leia costume?"
So he tells me that Sideshow Collectibles has contracted him to come up with preliminary concept sketches of the new upcoming 1/4 scale Slave Leia statue. He said he was looking for reference of Slave Leia and went to leiasmetalbikini.com and I had sent the site some of my photos of my Slave Leia costume, and he saw my pictures there. So he said liked my Slave Leia costume so much that he used my pictures as reference for the concept sketches for the statue!
I almost fainted on the spot. He said he was excited to meet me. So we talked about stuff (Harry Potter, his artwork, the Convention) for like 20 minutes. He gave me a sketch book and signed it for me, and I got a piece of artwork signed by him too.
Pretty sweet... So does anyone know when this Slave Leia Statue is coming out?... I didn't ask Adam Hughes cause I didn't want to delve to much into his business... you know.
