There's always a Fandango ad before the movies at the theater that I go to. Always talking about guaranteeing your seat. Now, for special showings, I can see it, but in most cases, movies just aren't selling out anymore.

I was trying to remember the last movie that I went to that sold out. The last one I remember, believe it or not, was "Wild Hogs". They actually had to come in and ask people to move so more people could get in.

Even Avatar didn't sell out when I was there and I went the first weekend.

What's the latest sell out that you can remember?

We have a theater called Warren that has reserved seats in their balcony. It rocks. You can show up right as the movie starts and you already have your awesome seat, must be 21 to go up there so no screaming brats to deal with and they have servents for ya!!

As for sold out, meh, I think Fast Five was.

When I watched Hangover 2 it was sold out. They were checking tickets before we went into the actual theater. They've never done that before.

Adults, and especially old people, are far worse.

I think I have never been in a sold out movie, because the front row is always available :dunno

Old people are worse at movies than kids or teenagers? Yeah, those grandmas texting on their Jitterbug phones drives me crazy too. :lol

^:lol.

Believe me. I have even witnessed how two adorable grandmas answered the phone right when the movie was about to begin. The most ironic thing is that the movie was kind of a documentary called Die Große Stille , something like The Great Silence :lol True story.

I find early 20-somethings to be the worst. They get all the benefits of being an "adult" but act like they're still teenagers. Just bigger, louder, smellier, and generally more obnoxious.

lol. I haven't been to a super packed show in a while. I actually really like it when movies a packed and you get exaggerated reactions during certain parts.

the worst is when the movie is mostly empty and you can hear everything that smuck nearest you is doing. opening their candy, shaking their ice, etc. hate that. when its full all the ambient noise blends together and its no big deal.

I guess the last one I couldny get into was The Hangover 2. Two showings sold out. We went to a different theater

Speaking of fellow moviegoers, I went to a packed showing of Fast Five and a couple rows in front of us was an elderly man who required the use of an oxygen tank. The hissing sound it made when he breathed in was loud. Of course, I understand that he doesn't have a choice in the matter, but still. Good thing the action was loud enough most of the time to cover it.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows... the theater was packed. After that... J.J. Abrams' Star Trek at the IMAX.

I don't go see movies in the theater very often, especially not when they first come out. Which is when they're most likely to be sold out or packed in the theater. But I kinda agree about it being better when more people are around and the ambient noise blends together. Saw Scott Pilgrim and Scream 4 in a practically empty theater... the lack of bodies and more open space really amplifies the laughing and the screaming done by 1 person... (and yes, that was me :lol)

X-Men: First Class, Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 and Fast Five were all pretty much sold out, I think.

I don't really like it when it's too busy though. Too many people that can't shut up or can't watch a film without checking their cellphone every 2 minutes.

The best is when you get the theater all to yourself. I've had that about 4 times now. Went to the early viewing in the afternoon and it was awesome! People coming in before the film, asking me if I need an intermission halfway through, or if I want to see trailers or not. I felt like a king! :lol :rock :rock :rock

Inception was the last movie I went to that was sold out...I had to go to a different theater to see it....and that was a couple weeks after it came out.

I imagine Harry Potter will probably sell out around here.

Last completely soldout shows I can remember seeing were Raiders, Ghostbusters, and Back to the Future when they played 2 summers ago. Not even midnight releases since have sold out but we do have a good amount of theatres around here.

Special showings and midnight shows sell out a lot, but around here, a sell out is rare. When I was a teenager it happened a lot more, but then you didn't have movies costing so much and they didn't end up on dvd so quickly.

The Dark Knight is probably the last movie I remember being completely sold out. It was about 6:30 at night and the place was jammed. I think all three screens sold out.

The closest since was Stark Trek at the IMAX. I showed up at 9:30 for a 9:40 show on a Monday night not thinking it'd be busy. I ended up having to sit in the first row which for an IMAX screen really sucked.

I've never had this problem. I ALWAY buy my tickets in advance. Plus my theater has reserved seating like EF's and I can show up 5 minutes before show time and have the best seat in the house.

I just realized I even pre-order my movie seats now :lol

But all of the big shows are packed here. We had the number 2 or 3 box office intake for PotC 4 this year already.
