Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

That new TV spot is better than any of the trailers. Chewie's reaction to Hans cards actually made me laugh out loud. I am so up and down with this movie. Part of me wants to be excited to see it while the other part, thanks TLJ, is "meh"....

Perhaps a bit of cautious optimism is in order? Try not to be too excited, but hope for the best.
Or ... expect the worst and then be pleasantly surprised when it's better than that.

My biggest issue continues to be Alden. Everything about this movie looks great ... except for the guy they have playing Han. I realize that pretty much no one could be Harrison Ford, but at the same time, he just seems so ... bland. He looks the part, but he sounds off. Even my wife immediately picked up on that by just casually hearing the trailer (i.e. she couldn't be bothered to look up from her phone), and she really couldn't care less about Star Wars.

If you’re super excited just go for it.

Otherwise maybe just wait until the initial fan reaction comes out? You found out everything you needed to know about TLJ after that.

And honestly if it’s good, just enjoy it, don’t let the shadow of TLJ dissuade you from it.

I personally won’t be seeing it in theatre but I have no great excitement either. IW is the one I’m excited for if only due to the large multi movie build up to it.

My wife hates Star Wars :)lol) and even she said he’s no Han Solo, and lacks any charisma. Gonna be interesting to hear what people think of Alden once it’s out.

That was exactly how I felt going into TLJ. I liked TFA but all the trailers and details for TLJ seemed uninspiring to me. So I had low expectations going in to see TLJ, but little did I know it would be even worse than I had feared...

Right away the Poe - Hux banter was awful, Poe drifting in space with an X-Wing, then Space Leia pretty much took me right out of the film making me want to scream WTF out loud. Then Luke tossing the Saber & the awful Casino bits, Yoda looking like he was in rehab.... :slap. I couldn't wait for that movie to end. If I wasn't with my family and friends I may have actually got up and walked out. The only decent scene was the throne room bits, but Snoke being ***** slapped then Rey & Kylo teaming up.... even that was like watching a bad dance choreography. I really wanted to give TLJ a 2nd chance, but no need to get aggravated all over again.

There is no way Solo or any future SW movie could get any badder/be any worse than TLJ for me. That's about the only positive. It's all uphill from here on out.. :yess:

Yeah, I have no intentions as of yet for seeing this opening night, maybe even opening weekend. The 1st for me after 9 SW movies.... sad. :(

My wife is super into it.

I think they should fight!

For what it's worth, my wife actually enjoyed TFA and TLJ ... not just tolerated them, but enjoyed them. She saw both multiple times in the theater, which she never does for any movie.
She has a seething near hatred for the Prequels.

Lol my wife has that fiery Latina blood (mixed with some other spicy ingredients as well)... can she handle it?!

And that’s interesting- does she enjoy them all or just certain ones?

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Anthony Ingruber should of been the one to play the role. Period! That guy playing Han looks NOTHING like a young Ford at all. :lol

DisneyWars sucks anyway. All of it!

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

disney should just hire people who COMPLETELY pass off as dopplegangers and just have voice dubs from the OG actors like they did in the 60's and 70's, even then spend a huge amount of money in acting classes and boom.

Mind is Sicilian so it should be interesting. :lol

My wife kind of lost her casual interest in SW and Marvel since the likes of Dr. Strange & Rogue One.

But she liked the trailer and we both enjoyed Ehrenreich in Hail Ceaser (he’s the highlight of an admittedly lesser CoenBros outing).

So she’s not judging it blind but her laughter at the jokes was genuine.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Does she hate Star wars though? Jye isn't a neckbeard so I am sure he is more balanced than Dudes who have a really unhealthy relationship with their hand.
