Good first episode overall and I think Liam did a good job. To nitpick Liam seems a bit young (pretty) and soft compared to Andy. The thing I am having a hard time with is Crixus having to look up at Spartacus as Liam is 3-4 inches taller than Andy was. Wish they would just put Crixus on a box or something when they talk to each other.

Liam is too small compared to Andy, he needs to bulk up some more.

Yeah, Manu Bennett is 42 and Liam is 29! WTF!

I think when Liam gets more bulked up and chiseled he'll appear more older.

Yeah, I was bummed about that. It was obviously necessary to replace Andy, but seeing a new Navia as well, I felt myself being pulled out of the show. The gratuitous nudity is also starting to bug me. In the first season it was shock value, now it feels like a crutch they're leaning too heavily on.

The new guy is doing a fair job, but I'm really starting to miss Andy now. Without him and John Hannah, the show just isn't as compelling. Not having John Hannah to play off of makes me realize how dull Lucy Lawless' performance is.

I have not seen the new season yet. I loved the first season. John Hannah was amazing and even though I loved the final episode I could not believe it ended that way. It is hard to imagine this new season without the two main actors. I will defiantly check it out sometime. I don't have Starz so I will wait until it is out.

I like where they're going with Lucretzia and I think Lawless is great. But the new guy is fine - although I do wonder why the actress playing Navia didn't want to come back.

I have not seen the new season yet. I loved the first season. John Hannah was amazing and even though I loved the final episode I could not believe it ended that way. Starz was showing the first episode on line. I wasn't wowed by it.

Looking into it on the "interwebs" it seems that when the show future was looking a little shaky, she commited to a few film roles. Once they began moving forward with Liam, her schedule wouldn't allow her to come back.

I saw it online so it must be true, right??

Seems plausible. Actors gotta eat.

I don't know what the Nielson numbers are like but this season has started strong, I hope it's around for a while.

I'm looking forward to seeing Oenomaus put some pain on Ashur.

I liked Gannicus as a character. He was a good guy. Not perfect, but heroic still. I'd rather see him return within Spartacus's ranks.

Ashur is a treacherous f-ck who needs a sword in him someday. He's also a decent villain so they can't kill him too soon.

Gotta have someone like Ashur around to hate. I'm sure he will get it in the end of the season.

Oh and the new Spartacus guy sucks. The scenes Spartacus has with Crixus has no chemisty like Andy had with him.

Aww, that sucks. I haven't started watching season 2 yet. I know I'll have to get used to Liam playing Spartacus but it's disappointing to hear Navia is being played by another actress as well.

Agreed, but that's the only problem I have with him really, I think he's quite good.

It could be considered a good and bad thing knowing the actual history of Spartacus and his commanders (or as much as they claim to know). Assuming they follow at least some of the history to Spartacus.
