I have no connection to this property at all. I tried to watch the cartoon as a kid, but just found it annoying. I'll see the film, but from that trailer it looks like it could be just as annoying as the cartoon.

If you didn't like the cartoon I would guess you wouldn't care for movie version.

I hope this comes out good, but I don't like the feel I'm getting from screen shots

Never watched the cartoon and from the look of that trailer I'll be able to add never watched the movie either.

No offense to any Speed Racer fans out there.

Wow--that trailer was not what I was expecting from these guys.

My son's going to love this.

It definitely looks to be geared (no pun intended) towards kids.

I'm a fan of the series. I even have the DVDs. For a cartoon from the 60s it was actually pretty violent. I know it had to be edited for television when it was shown here.

Saw the preview before Golden Compass and I will have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I love Speed Racer and I hope it is as campy as the tv show, but that doesn't seem to be a problem. All I want is the classic "Speed jumping out of the Mach 5" pose.
Kinda like this:

I am not even sure that my kids will like it. I will see it, though, out of loyalty to the cartoon that I loved as a kid (but would never be able to stomach, now).

I'm not sure what to make of it just yet. Still, I'll be there opening day with my 4 year-old in tow.
