I've already talked bout it ad nauseum in other threads so I'll not go through it all again here. Still, Speed Racer was really fun and I think suffered a great deal from people wanting it to fail. When the movie was first released, it seemed people were ragging on it left and right just for the joy of it, the kicker was that most of the people ragging on it openly admitted to not seeing it. I don't get that.

Oh well, I liked it.

I was going to completely ignore this movie but now you've got me interested. Ive watched the music video and it does look like a film made for cinema.

go see it.

of all the films this summer, i've enjoyed speed racer the most with iron man a close second.

After reading this thread, I'm still not about to run out to the theater to watch it, but I have indeed changed my mind about not wanting to watch it at all. I will wait for it to come out on DVD.

My interest is now piqued.

/still have yet to see Inc. Hulk...

...suffered a great deal from people wanting it to fail.

i never understood this.

why was there so much bashing of this film? were they matrix revolutions haters? did they object to unreal race tracks?

did people want a realistic take about a race car with saw blades that come out the front and pogo sticks that make the car jump?

if they want "realism" isn't there plenty of fast and furious films or days of thunder?

From my perspective, it's not that I ever wanted Speed Racer to fail - it's just that every single shot of the movie I saw was hard to decipher. It looks like a video game. If I wanted to watch a video game, I'd stay home and play video games. Every action scene looks ultra-garish and it's hard to wrap my eyes around some of those shots.

/That probably means I'm getting too old, doesn't it...

/lousy cataracts...

Cult Classic??

I watched the toon back in the day but there was nothing that made me want to see this flick.

Guaranteed no doubt. It was one of my favorite films of this year so far. Enjoyed it more the Crystal Skull which says a lot.

I liked it alot. Aside from freakin kids running up and down the isles, it was awesome. Coulda been a bit shorter though.
