All fair points. I guess I just wasn't that invested. For nostalgia to hit me, I still have to be invested. And I stopped caring about Spider-Man in any capacity around 2015. I'll get a Tobey-Man dolly for completionism reasons, but that's it. I used to be a big Venom kid, but again, I haven't cared about him or the symbiotes in ages. I'm not going to be dropping the hundreds on their figures, so by extension I don't much care for the movies themselves.

I guess it just depends on how it hits you. If MoM features FoX-Men Magneto & Xavier, I imagine I'll be more excited because I still maintain a relationship with the property (I still pull X-Men floppies every month). Or if Iron Cruise turns out to be a reality. The Raimi flicks are nostalgia wells, but it's just that for me the connection with the "core" isn't there anymore, so... The last time I was really hyped for something Spider-Man related was Web Of Shadows. I think the best way to describe it is that I love the concept of Spider-Man, the suit, the powers, everything, but his world doesn't do things for me anymore, so I've let it go. I'll still get a Tobey-Man like I said (and probably a SpOck & 2099 down the lane) but I'd rather go hunt down a Stan Lee to display him with rather than buy an Ock or Goblin.

As for NWH, I guess I didn't get hit with the nostalgia rays because those parts of the movie were more minimal compared to the Holland plot and characters. Had we had proper subplots for Garfield and Maguire, I'd probably have been more on board with it.

Not muh!

sinister six would break the hype machine but ironically this movie was a sort of sinister six
they kinda blew their load too quick because sinister six would just feel like the ending of this movie.

but if u got chameleon and morbius and vulture together or something I could see the hype blow up.
I really wanna see chameleon and Kraven the Hunter (outside of sinister six)
if they can pull off Kraven correctly I would pay for it. I would hype

now that I think about it,
a sinister six with daredevil fully involved would do another billion
but it is too soon and that would probably happen in more than 5 years from now. we aren't getting any younger and while seeing these villains together and seeing daredevil on here was cool,
I'm not sure what comes next

I have zero idea on what their next plan is besides morbius. I don't know any rumors or anything
but they need something big for the next spiderman

I reckon they'll start doing symbiote stuff. Maybe they could do a Web of Shadows type of flick. Who knows? Kraven's getting his own solo flick with Aaron-Taylor Johnson, who played Quicksilver in the MCU.

Morbius I think will get folded into the Midnight Sons if the movie succeeds.

"I got the call midway through lockdown, Summer of 2020, and we filmed Spider-Man in March of 2021... so I had to keep it secret for almost a year. So yeah, it's been intense," the actor told HeyUGuys. "It's a relief to be able to talk about it. Y'know, getting that phone call was a life-changing moment, really. My involvement with that character and the MCU was dead and buried, I hadn't heard anything for a couple of years and so I'd moved on. It was incredibly unexpected and out of the blue."
As it turns out, Feige has a pretty good poker face himself! Before the Marvel Studios boss officially reached out to Cox, he went to see him in a play he was preforming in with Loki starTom Hiddleston, and never once mentioned the possibility of the actor returning as Daredevil.
"I did a play in 2019 with Tom Hiddleston and Kevin Feige came to see our play. And, Y'know, I went and shook hands with him and said hi and he said how much he enjoyed the play. Never mentioned Daredevil or anything like that. So it turns out he's a very good liar as well (laughs)."

Same here, I loved Garfield and was bummed when they rebooted Spidey yet again. Just like I loved Battfleck (another minority opinion) and was bummed when they rebooted Batman, yet again.

“I actually got in trouble on the press tour,” Holland told The Hollywood Reporter. “I got a phone call from some people at the studio, saying, ‘Stop saying the movie is brutal! Stop saying the movie is emotional! It doesn’t sell the movie!’”

Holland said he was just trying to be honest with the fans:

“And I was like, ‘But it is! This is the most emotional superhero movie that’s ever been made.’ And they were like, ‘We want people to understand how fun it is.’ And I was like, ‘It is fun, but it’s also kind of heartbreaking.’ So I had to sort of change track on how I was promoting the movie, but I’m glad I gave at least some people some warning.”

well I is related to marvel after all

even their darkest movie has quips and one liners lol

He was right. It was more emotional than I ever thought it would be.

Sony and Disney/Marvel have to be talking about what the next step is for Spidey. Disney knows Marvel delivers the goods while Sony knows that and would like some MCU flavoring to boost their movie sales. Tom Hardy appearance certainly made that clear. If Sony just cooperates with Feige and his notes more, he might be more receptive to letting them in on his sandbox - the price is 3 more Spidey movies of course.

It didn't really have anything to do with the movies for me. If I stop caring for a comic book based property, it's because I've cut all ties with the comic books themselves. It's always about the source for me. I feel weird if I'm into an adaptation of something and don't like the core. Which is why every new CBM I watched back when I was a kid, I immediately went searching for the actual comics. Some I got into through cartoons, some through movies, some through other comics, but if I didn't like the source I didn't care for the movies either.

Anyway, for Spider-Man I just realised that I didn't much care for the world around him. The costume, powers and relatability carried him for me, but at some point I just got tired. I didn't care about Scorpion or Silvermane or whoever else. While Batman had that horror/gothic/noir genre to fall back on and keep me engaged throughout various other media, Spider-Man really didn't. And I got mad at him for being such a ******. I pulled Superior and enjoyed the breath of fresh air. At the same time I was pulling (Agent) Venom, Scarlet Spider (Kaine) and later Spider-Man 2099. I followed the book until the ANAD relaunch with Parker Industries. At some point I gave up. I just had my fill of it all. Parker's a little *****, whatever progress he makes his life is undone, "muh Parker luck", the same old villains; it got tiring. I don't like "pure crimefighters" in general. Punisher was Rambo x Sopranos, Batman's a mix of a bunch of genres, Iron Man I was into for all the corporate stuff; you get my point. Spider-Man by contrast is a pure superhero comic. He still webs up robbers you know. And I'm just not into that. So I gave up and didn't look back.

All that said, I still like Spider-Man as an idea. The costume, the powers, all that jazz. So I'll buy a Tobey-Man because that's the one I grew up with and whose costume I honestly prefer. I haven't bought a PS4, much less a PS5, but if I do at some point I'll give the Insomniac games a shot. If they do something interesting with the title character himself, I'm game. But I'm just not on the level of continued engagement like I'm with the X-Men, where I follow their books every month. Or with Batman where the concept and aesthetics alone keep me coming back. Or the FF that I just generally like. Spider-Man's world just isn't up there. It's just Spider-Man himself I like, and not the whiny Peter Parker, but the Spider-Chad I got to know back in the day.

As for Garfield, I unironically prefer his version to Tobey's. I thought the same during TASM too. He was more similar to a modernised Ditko Peter, or just Parker in general, than Tobey. But Maguire has nostalgia going for him, and is also more archetypically relatable and wholesome. He was more dweeby though, not really close to the actual Peter from the books. If they botch the costume (no raised webbing, different patterns) I could go for a Garfield version. Dunno, I just want a Spider-Man dolly. Either way, I'd be a lot more excited to watch more Garfield movies than Holland movies, if I'm being 100% honest. His flicks were disjointed messes, but they felt like proper movies. The Holland-Flicks I honestly cannot see as proper movies. They feel like unfinished clips or something to me. The MCU just didn't capture him as I envisioned it. Granted, going forward that might be changing, so I'm open.

TL;DR I like Spider-Man's thwip-thwip and costume. Everything else is largely irrelevant to me and I take it all with an air of leisure.

Just like I loved Battfleck (another minority opinion) and was bummed when they rebooted Batman, yet again.
People came around on Batfleck. It's BvS itself and then Whedon's JL that got flack, not Affleck himself. Me personally I liked him much more in the beginning than now. During the BvS years I was all aboard the train, but as time passes I find myself not caring much. The costume looks worse to my eyes every time I see it, I didn't care for his arc, and while he looked imposing, I didn't feel he truly captured Batman. Bale had that inherent melancholy and gothicness, Affleck was a Chad playing at cliche depression. Like I said, back then I was in love with how badass he was, but ultimately I was soured on him because he just felt superficial. I had problems with BatBale, but as time goes on I look on him more fondly.

Battinson got me into Batman again, and I like the direction they're going with. Maybe it's because I like Pattinson himself, but I'm looking forward to the new flick. I haven't kept up with a Batcomic since I dropped King's awful run 50 issues in, but I always keep tabs on Batman stuff in general.

The way I see it they should just have two different Spider-Franchises. Garfield takes over all the Venom/Kraven/etc stuff they're doing, and Holland keeps doing his own thing. Maybe Tobey could get his "Logan" at some point. It's evident Spider-Man just sells, so they should work things out.

of course not!,
these spidemman movies are merely chapters in the GREAT mcu crap
iron man involvement alone destroys any chance of these movies being real stories
iron man tech robs spiderman of his intelligence and ingenuity

Far from Home is literally an iron man sequel with villain literally pissed off at iron man.....
the entire plot and motives are guided by iron mans past......
iron man created the villain (created vulture too)

of course the Holland-Flicks are NOT proper movies
they are merely iron man's story chapters with villains mad at iron man and fighting a baby iron man that uses iron man tech.....

(and affleck was too fat
FATMAN)

Even beyond all that, they just don't feel like properly structured movies. They're like clipshows of things happening. Even something like Shang-Chi felt like a proper flick, whereas those just don't.

I’ll always love Spider-Man. He’s pretty much such a relatable character. I know his stories are to much of the same but I blame the comic industry and it’s ability to never stick to one story and akways rebooting the canon.
If you look at Spider-Man as a straightforward story it’s so good and he grows from a boy to a man and no matter what lies ahead he still tries to help. He’s just a genuine character.

To be honest I wish comics would just stick to a manga structure of just telling one complete story instead of having like 49 different versions of the same crap .

Agreed, but that's why Manga > US Comics. The original writer writes the whole thing and then completes it, unless it's Dragon Ball or One Piece...

Peter Parker would be 70 or something
Honestly it would be more impactful if he passed on the mantle to either his daughter or miles. There’s not much you can do with him anymore if if you continue his story but making him actually grow as a character and mentoring new generations. I hate how he’s still early 20s running around with miles . Let the character get married and have kids and pass on his legacy. They were doing that but ruined it.

by now it would have to be his grandkid

Yup. That’s why manga is outselling comics. They tell one complete story and make the character go through different changes and story arcs. There is rarely any rebooting or multiple canons. It’s just one complete story. Comics use to do that but now it’s just all over the place with zero growth for its characters.

Yea true. I wish they’d do that instead. The character has just been through so much and they keep rebooting him. I don’t really like miles. He grew on me but if he took up the mantle I wouldn’t care anymore
