Last night's opening pre view of Broadway's most expensive production ever, "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," was an epic flop as the $65 million show's high-tech gadgetry went completely awry amid a dull score and baffling script, theatergoers griped.

Stunned audience members were left scratching their heads over the confusing plot -- when they weren't ducking for cover from falling equipment and dangling actors at the Foxwoods Theatre on West 42nd Street, some said.

Not good. :monkey2

Hopefully, one of these days I'll get up there to catch a show. Sad to hear that the opening didn't go so well.

That is funny. Thats why they are supposed to test these shows out off broadway first.

I saw The Little Mermaid show during its developement stages (Denver was its test venue) and it was pretty cool, but you can tell that they were going to have to change bits before moving it to Broadway.

i walked by the theater on friday and there was a sign stating that friday's show had been cancelled...i lol'd

This was on 60 Minutes last night but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet myself.

I wonder when Swiss Miss will make her comic book debut?

I would love to see the Local 1 stagehands bumbling around not knowing what to do, lazy entitled buttholes.:rotfl

I think the creative team behind this just (U2 and that woman, primarily) don't understand the property very well. They were probably lured in by the popularity of comic book movies, and had some misguided idea that this would connect with that same audience. Deluded bastards.

There's a shocker! Spider Man the Musical = Horrible Mistake

I believe that was the second most popular song from the musical, followed by "There's Doc Oc." The most popular song, of course, was "Ding Dong Ben Parker's Dead"

Personally...I prefered act 1's "Mary Jane is Not My Lover" and then Mary Jane's song from act 3's sex scene between her and Peter Parker, "Here COMES the spider-man"....
