Supposedly there was a Batman Broadway musical in the works at one point so who knows.

I liked this part of the casting call...

[GEEK CHORUS] Three teenage boys and one girl who meet to ritualistically retell the greatest Spider-Man stories. They have encyclopedic knowledge of the last forty years of Spider-Man comic books. They are inveterate role-playing, over-enthusiastic, idealistic, air-guitar-wielding, argumentative, earnest, hyper-serious geeks. Strong comic chops and strong singing voices. Any ethnicity.

Ok, most of you guys fit this, so send in your resumes!!! :lol

Evan Rachel Wood Cast In 'Spider-Man' MusicalBy Access Hollywood

celebs:BonoEvan Rachel WoodKirsten DunstThe EdgeLOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Kirsten Dunst may have spun a web around Peter Parker's heart in the big screen version of "Spider-Man," but actress Evan Rachel Wood is reportedly now set to woo the web slinger, as Mary Jane Watson in the Broadway treatment of the friendly neighborhood superhero story.

Evan Rachel Wood, best known for her role as Lucy in "Across The Universe" and currently starring in "The Wrestler," broke news to IESB.com that she would be starring in Marvel's Entertainment's "Spider-Man" the musical, as Peter Parker's girlfriend.

As for who might play the man bitten by the radioactive arachnid, Evan said fans might be treated to an "Across The Universe" reunion - the role may be filled by her co-star, Jim Sturgess.

"[They are] still trying to convince him," Evan said during the interview.

Julie Taymor, who has already had great success bringing film to the stage with Disney's "The Lion King," will direct the super hero musical.

And if that weren't enough star power for one show, U2's Bono and The Edge are writing the music and lyrics.

Evan said rehearsals for "Spider-Man" the musical start in June 2009.

For those who are not in the know here is who they want for Parker:

Liked him in 21....

They did a musical for Spider-man at Universal Studios called Spider-man Rocks (he might, but the show DID NOT). It was terrible, at one point the music goes from this Bonnie Tyler song:

"I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight."

Then transitons to "My Hero" by Foo Fighters:

"There goes my hero...watch him as he goes..."

While Spider-man jumps around a 20x20 foot stage. Awful.

Alan Cumming to Play the Green Goblin?
Source:New York Post May 15, 2009

Julie Taymor's big broadway production "Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark" just got a little more interesting. According to the New York Post, Alan Cumming is in talks to play the Green Goblin! Cumming, of course, played Nightcrawler in another Marvel production, X2: X-Men United:

JULIE Taymor has cast forth her $40 million "Spider- Man" net and hauled in -- Alan Cumming.

The actor, who won a Tony in 1999 for his memorable turn as the emcee in "Cabaret," is in negotiations to play the Green Goblin in Taymor's new musical, or "circus rock 'n' roll drama," as she calls it.

Whatever it is, it's thought to be the most expensive thing in Broadway history.

Cumming was spotted last week at a production meeting, checking out Eiko Ishioka's imaginative costume designs.

"Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark" opens on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Broadway's Hilton Theatre, 213 West 42nd Street. Preview performances begin Saturday, January 16, 2010. U2's Bono and The Edge are creating new music and lyrics for the show.
