Should we split the Star Wars forum between 1/6 and other collectibles?

Oh, and I would add that the 3rd option is definitely the worst. I think many threads would get lost if 1/6 was recombined with customs; too many of both for one forum to hold them all.

voted for the first option as I would still seperate customs from the other 1:6, but agree that moving the 1:6 out is also a good plan.

I don't really understand the worry about havin multiple forums. Its easy for people to navigate multiple places. Its a lot harder to filter out a bunch of threads you aren't interested in.

As a bit of an aside, I wonder if people are making use of the User CP feature (in the bar at the top of every page). It will show you just the threads that you've replied to (or have chosen to subscribe to). These are by definition threads that you are interested in.

After I created it I thought it might make sense to divide into "Figures" and "Other collectibles" - so 1/6 and 3 3/4 would go into the figures section and everything else into Other.

One of the benefits of this board over others is the cross-pollenization between 1/6 and other types of collectibles - so I wouldn't split them lightly - and if we do it here, we'd do it in any other forum that warrants it, like A&R, DC, Marvel, etc.

That's what I like about the current structure... I don't really collect many of the items discussed, but its still interesting to see threads about them. And the occassional "Lucas is evil/God/not heavy he's my brother" thread that pops up :lol

i think it works well as is & the thread titles are pretty clear as to what it's about. and the mods do a good job of fixing thread titles that are more of "wish list/what about this figure"......(those will always need to be cleaned up no matter how many extra sections are added.........:lol)

that said, if there was a change i'm sure everyone would get used to it............like other changes that have occured over the years.

I voted for keeping it as is. Even though I only collect 1/6, I like seeing the threads of other formats and pieces. When they moved the customs into its own forum, I've missed out on a lot of great customs from Dorgmal and others, just because I never stumbled across a thread by him. Now I only come across a thread of his if I click on the "New Posts" tab. Point is, I may not seek out the other forums if they're separate, but it's great to see them if they happen to be in the SW forum.

I also like the denotation of a thread as marked "AF" or "S", but we haven't been good about labeling them. I think that's very helpful and enough for me to know which threads are of more interest to me.

If no change is made, maybe a mod can spend 30 minutes or so and fix the icons next to each thread. You know the "AF", "S" etc... and then if Dave is feeling adventurous add a sortability function based on that icon, all the other columns are sortable, may as well make that one too. Then people who want all the AF threads can sort it. Maybe also add a icon with a movie reel or something for the threads about the films.

I would volunteer for such editing and cleanup duty, if needed, (though I'm not interested in moderating).

To be honest, I've never even noticed that those icons were there, since hardly anyone uses them. I agree that using them (and being able to sort by them) might be nice. Or perhaps tags could be used for the same purpose.

Yes, the tags would definitely help - it seems the only person using the tags is Alter Ego Comics - (check the tag cloud on the first page).

And AF and S are sufficient any more - there are props and other items too.

I really like the new RPF look and organizational method and I'm leaning towards something like that.

In general, I think people CREATING threads can use a bit more understanding of all the available features.

I agree that there could be several more icons developed.

If you create the icons, and want someone to spend a few hours or whatever it takes to assign those icons to existing threads, I can do it, at least for some of the more popular places like SW and GI Joe.

To me thread titles are more important than icons honestly. I can't say I've ever paid any kind of attention to them.
