I almost wish I could take a week off of work to ust monitor my computer during the event. Expect my internet usage to go up that week.

I'm sure all the good things will go while I'm at work or in bed. I have that kind of luck. :(

Well, that does suck, but if you're anything like the rest of us, you'll suddenly come down with a bad "flu bug" during Spooktacular. Not that I'm advising such deceitful behavior, mind you. I'm just sayin'...

:monkey3

Wow... just wow! Sideshow doesn't have to do anything, but most of us really like Spooktacular because of the camaraderie and friendship during chats, the fun of looking for specials or answering trivia and the just plain coolness of Sideshow doing things like this for their customers. I can understand if it's not an event you like or care for, but why ridicule Sideshow for doing something nice for it's customers? If you can't find something good to say about it, then maybe you just shouldn't say anything...

Now, I don't agree. As much as most like what SSC does, you have to accept that there are some people here that are not always thrilled by their events, and remain alert and sceptical about them. It's the right of everyone to comment, and, if you're honest, part of what nash and Loki say is true.
On the other hand, I agree that hanging around with the freaks during Halloween (my favorite holiday!) is a great experience, I've always enjoyed it. But Sideshow is pushing it a bit to far this year: by giving special deals to privileged people, namely those that buy the Readyness Kit (access pass). What a dubious sales strategy... besides, by doing so, they automatically exclude the majority of fans and customers. This is the umpteenth occasion this year where Sideshow really puts me off.

I'd have to disagree with this. There is no "privilege" associated with the readyness kit. It isn't offered to select individuals, while others are left out. It is available to anyone who wants to order it, and if it is like last years kit, it will be available at a reasonable price for what you get (t-shirt, poster, etc), PLUS it includes a gift card. Anyone likely to be purchasing one will already be a Sideshow customer, so they will be likely to use the gift card. And last year my gift card was worth $20, effectively making my readyness kit free.

O.k. It seems that quit some people haven't listened to the last podcast yet. They talked about the "official SideshowCollectiblesdotcom Spooktacular 2008 membership card, which will provide you access to a different page each day, containing special offers and other goodies". The way I understand this, is that you'll only get access to those deals, if you have the access pass. You can only have the access pass, if you buy the Readyness Kit. Unless some Freaks care to disclose their code, as a matter of protest...

I've participated in every Spooktacular and have loved every one of them. I've gotten great discounts and I've even won a few things. The Readyness kit is a fun idea and I understand the desire for Sideshow to offer "exclusive" things in the kit to draw people in to participate. However, I don't agree with the fact that I have to buy the kit in order to get access to certain specials and discounts.

I have no interest in this year's kit, and my choice not to buy the kit shouldn't put limitations on what I can participate in and get access to, and it does. Hey, that's the way the ball bounces, of course. But it will affect my involvement in this year's event and what I could and would potentially buy from Sideshow.

To me, it's no different than being a member of a fan club, which you have to pay for. With membership comes privledges. These are just bonuses that go along with the regular Spook activities.

Well said.

This Kit is almost like Gentle Giants PGM. Kind of a disapointment, having to pay extra to get a possible exclusives (probably a subject with different colored pants).

Ween: The longevity...a week, wow. I think I might sign up with Bowen and get a year of exclusives for my money, over this.

But if this brings in $$$ for SS, more power to them.

I don't understand why some are upset. Nobody says you have to buy it or participate in Spooktacular at all. SS doesn't have to do any of this, but it's fun that they do.

It's not like they have to do anything at all for us, and name one other company that does anything even close to what Sideshow does for it's customers.
