Square Enix Play Arts Kai Gets New Licenses

Just got my Kratos figure sent here. I like it more than I thought it would, though so far it's still sitting in the box. The box art is awesome..and my Kratos figure doesn't look as heavily painted in the face like the other reviews I have seen. But so far I think he looks great MIB....and I'm hoping eventually to find someone who I trust to take him out and paint his face a bit smoother and make his tattoo a bit bolder.

I usually open and take them out the box to make sure everything is fine, then back in the box they go.

My Kratos is posed next to my 12" NECA and my mini-Kratos Skateboarding figure (forget the brand) - very cool figure if you can get over the head sculpt (face) and heavy shadow paint.

Yeah..the face looks fine to me...not perfect but good enough. I'm not too stuck on that because in each game his face has looked a bit different, which the jaw, cheeks and overall shape of the head being slightly different. I really want to get him painted though, kind of more like the box art where he's ghostly white and the tattoo is a vivid red. I wish I knew someone in person who can just do it for me.

I recently picked up a Ninja figure from MGS because I wanted to get free shipping from a website. Now I've got 4 play arts kai figures.

Pretty cool figures, but why aren't they in scale!!?? That's my biggest complaint about them.. that and my Kratos has a near completely black face. Figures are definitely pretty sweet.

I know technically its not a Videogame but Cowboy Bebop got some Play Arts!
Kinda out of the blue but they look great! except Spikes face looks abit weird

They better make the whole Bebop. if not, then whats the point?
Whats is it with PlayArts and not nailing the main characters faces?

That sucks. Both Spike and Vicious look great but at $86 they're a pass. Hopefully some US retailers will have them cheaper.

I have every Bebop ep recorded on VHS from when they originally aired on Adult Swim. Even if I don't end up with a single figure from this line, I hope PA makes the entire Bebop crew especially Faye (hell if they make her, I may suck it up and just buy the damn figure despite the $86 price tag).

I'd really like to see Play Arts make some more anime figures. Rurouni Kenshin, Claymore and High School of the Dead would be awesome.

Okay I gave in and decided to open Kratos. I have to say, he looks so badass. The pictures do not do him justice, and even the airbrushed face, in person it just kind of works. Not perfect paint apps, and many of the more dynamic poses look a little wonky (which I predicted considering he has so little clothing). But if you get him in a cool, stoic but still badass pose it's an amazing figure.

Agreed. I'm still trying to find a customizer to repaint him. I think his body should be more white....or atleast that's how I wish he came. I know it's GoWIII version (where he was a bit more gray) but I think should be whiter like the first God of War game or Ghost of Sparta.

Looks good man!

here some of mine.

I would have liked the paint app to have a bit more saturation, especially in the red.

And no so much shadowing on his face.

But overall a very well done figure
