You can even crunch up little balls of tin-foil and it will work. subtle...but cool.

Don't think that would work with this mate, it will just stop any existing light from coming through the eyeballs. The plastic and gold paint is too dense, not transparent enough for that to work. (I know it would in theory) the only illumination you get from the eyes either comes from the gold spray over the eyes, or the light creeping in from the side of mask.

Well, it's an easy mod if people want to try it for themselves to see if they like it or not. The craft diamond thingy has a little hole in the back.

Oh absolutely man, it's easy and worth a try , I know Wor-Gar came to the same conclusion as I did regarding putting anything reflective behind. I did wonder about making a hole in the area behind the eye plate, to allow more light in? Your pic looks great, that's a front directional light highlighting the eye though right? Your ear/fins look good!
:clap

Yep...front direction. I like your pin mod for the ears...and it's accurate. I just shaved mine down and attached them closer. The less drilling into the plastic I can do the better (for me). At some point I might re-visit. Won't do anything else until I get some more parts for my planned articulation mod. Let you know how it goes.

McHaley -- are you actually getting more "glow" out of the eyes with that mod? As Rory mentioned, I tried a thin strip of tin foil on the face plate right behind the eyes thinking the bounce would throw more light -- but it did absolutely nothing. In fact, I think it blocked more light that it reflected.

GREAT WORK, Rory. Every time I peek in here I am stunned with how insane your Grievous is. I always figure 'OK, he can't do any better now' and then you prove me wrong. I have no idea how you did that marbling work on the armor plates but it is sheer beauty. If I felt I could get 30% of what you accomplished by doing it myself I would give it a go... but there's no way. Had a hard enough time with adding damage to the battle damage mask. I will follow your lead on the cape though and the ears also at some point -- I'm scared to death to do it, but turning those ears back just makes him look so much more threatening. I just don't have a drill bit the size of a pin.

There's the hole in the back that still lets light it. In person, you can see more depth to the eye. These craft pieces are more reflective then tinfoil and are angled like a diamond. I might make the whole just a litter bigger in the back. I'll take some more pics later.

I'll take some more pics later.

That would be helpful. Its a really simple mod and I'd like to take advantage of your idea if it works.

The other problem with the eyes on both mine and Rory's is that we added some stain to the back of the eye -- dark brick acrylic -- which is also somewhat hampering light thru the eye.

So this is WIP, but almost entirely back together, some parts painted some not. I have a job to do on his hands next.
But happy enough with his look so far, keep in mind this is a static standing pose, which I would never put Grievous in.

Jesus, this is amazing.

Somebody's been paying some serious attention to detail. lol
Grievous' torso is even skinnier in the film than the figure is so I don't agree with the caved in comment.

I still don't have the figure...so how much of these awesome textures are stock? I believe very few as It looked much whiter in the previous pages...how are you doing the marbleized effect?

Thanks for kind comments everyone. It's been a labor of love (and hate)..
This is all Wor-Gar's fault by the way, he gave me a link to that amazing Star Wars screen cap website. I was originally just going to fix the eyes..:lol

Ok, I'm nearly sick of Grievous now. I've done everything I can think of without compromising the actual joints on the figure, it still functions exactly as it did stock.
Very tempted to replace ball joints, but I've gotten to love the possibility those stock joints provide. This is my last fix for a while.. I started to paint the hands but decided to cut off the the armor and thin out the the hands (cutting off the top layer of the hands was terrifying, after almost slicing my finger in two, I decided thats enough now! :lol) I reposed a few of the fingers, to get him to point..

lol...better take a break while you're ahead and still have your fingers, Rory!
I've got a hand joint mod planned. Still debating. Although inaccurate, the stock joints blend into the robotic nature of the whole arms. We'll see what happens.

:lol Had I known you were going to do all this I might have had second thoughts... but I'm glad you went for it. Your Grievous is a small miracle. I still can't get over how the hell you did that marbling effect on the 'bone' plates.

Nice work on the hands, but now you're just getting crazy. :lol When you say "thinned" did you mean you removed the magnet?

Please pose Grievous in that clichéd villain-rubbing-hands-together pose. I love when Grievous does that.

Man I was so happy with this figure right outta the box but now after seeing these modified versions all I can see when I look at it is what it isn't and what it's missing.

:lol

Pretty much. Every time I see McHaleys Vader and Fett all I want to do is toss mine in the trash can.

:lol Yeah, I was going to use a standard small HT wrist peg, but came to the conclusion it would hinder articulation. The big ball joint is ugly, but you don't really see it after a while. And it does allow some very cool evil henchman style hand poses.

How would you have changed the ball joints, Rory? I'm assuming you mean the ankles.
Only the wrists, but not sure I will bother now.

He actually sliced the hand armor plate down...that's dangerous work there.
Yes, it was!
I sliced off the top layer of armor and thinned the entire hand as well as getting the magent blocks off.

Sorry? :lol I'm almost done now.
