It's ridiculous that they designed him that way. I can't even get him on the base without damaging the cape or base. All they had to do was give it a little more clearance and it wouldn't have even been an issue.

yeah i definitely had to pull the cape back a bit so it wouldn't rub too much but i guess i will be returning mine for a replacement hopefully it doesn't take too long

Pulling on the cape should not ever be required to put a statue on a base. It runs the risk of breaking the cape or at the very least it could rub off some paint. Not to mention, the very point where he is difficult to insert into the base is where the main contact point is for his light up features. :slap What the hell were they thinking? All they had to do was lower the ice shard or move the cape over a little and the problem never happens. :gah:

Ok I've only been collecting for a few years now but this needs saying. This is easily one of Sideshows best statues ever. The ES might be bigger than people like but that goes right out the door once UPS drops off your Arthas statue. First off let's talk about packaging...

The packaging is easily the best I've received going on 10+ statues now. It's a box inside a box inside another box with foam inserts at the corners AND packing peanuts AND more solid foam on the sides.

Next is the box art. Some have posted pics already but this is fantastic box art if you care about that kind of thing.

Now lets talk about unboxing the statue. They used gray soft foam to hold Arthas in the box and its very very nice. Each piece is wrapped in plastic and styrofoam and I had no breakages.

Let me back track for a second because someone on here or Statueforums was talking about how sideshow used cheap toy plastic for the accessories. The helm and Frostmourne are break resistant because of all the sharp/thin edges and the shoulders are some sort of PVC/polystone (not sure exactly but they have heft to them). So what I'm getting at is every piece was quality, more so than some people on here would have you believe.

Next up is sculpt. Easily the most detailed, intricate and striking statue I've ever seen. This puts everything in my collection to shame. From the armor to the chain mail to the ice base, its spot on. This is the Lich King. Nuff said.

Paint!! I'm not a professional painter and maybe I'm not the most critical when it comes to paint but it looks great. Yes there's not that many different colors but that's how he's supposed to look. He looks exactly like he should, a Death Knight who has been traversing the frozen wasteland.

Light up feature. Personally I hate light up features because I feel like they cheapen a statue plus it's not like you have it lit up all the time or else you would go through batteries like whoa. That being said it looks nice when its on. Also learn from me, put the batteries in before you put Arthas on the base because he is a heavy mfer!

Weight. Yep that's right, this is no Hulk maquette or Rhino Comiquette. He's not that big being 1/5 scale but he sure is heavy. I'd say he weighs as much as the Hulk Comiquette at about 30lbs-ish.

My one con when it comes to this statue is getting him on the base. His enormous cape gets in the way of the ice shards and you need to slightly flex the cape to get him on. You also need to make sure he's all the way in or else the light up feature won't work.

Overall 10/10. Must have if you are a Blizzard or WoW fan and must have even if you aren't.

nice mini review i'm still waiting for mine.... THANKS :hi5:

Just got mine. Can't get the lights to work. What a pain in the ***. Awesome statue, but trying to get this thing to light up sucks. Guess I'll be returning it. I'm not going through that again.

Just started playing WoW again and was thinking about this.

I hope they eventually get around to Illidan, Kael'thas and Kil'jaeden.

Hell, I'd buy any character from BC. Such a great x-pack.

Imagine a Felreaver... :thud:

Anyone planning to paint the gold trim in? It'd be cool too see someone add icicles and such. :) Maybe taking pics with some fake Icey fog.

Make sure his foot is all the way into the base it's finicky and took me some time to get it in or else the lights won't work.

I like the statue but I wish something could be done about the cape bizarrely cutting off before it goes it under the shoulder pad. I bought Obi-wan Mythos, who was missing a light-saber hilt, and someone got a bunch made and they cost $30 each. Would any professional out there be able to make a piece of plastic we could glue on to make the cape continue to his shoulder pad. I'd definitly be willing to pay $30 for that.

Or how about cutting that part of the cape off making it not look like it hangs so far down his arm. Kinda like this edit. Or shaving it off more...

Man this statue is awesome.

BTW I've been back into WoW for the past 2 months or so.

well lame i got an email saying they dont have replacements so i can only get partial credit for my piece not lighting up lol so i guess i will be sending him back and buying elsewhere

I'm gonna sculpt this part of the coat by myself with Milliput and paint it with some acrylic paints, lol. It's really easy to do. I don't know WHY I should do it by myself, but I'll definitely will. Wish all the troubles with figures and statues were so easy to fix... :lecture

got my tickets very happy they are putting it on again i was sad last year when it was cancelled lol hopefully they have some good announcements this year and I'm hoping for something on Titan
What exactly is this "Titan" thing I'm always hearing about? A new MMO from Blizzard apparently?

If I knew how to sculpt and paint correctly I would have virtually no problems with my statues. :(
