SS getting a little dull on EX's??

I don't possibly see how you could be any further off the mark with that statement. Excl's such as Indy, the Berserker, Moria Orc, Legolas, ISM, HB2, Ringwraith dio. and many, many other have completely sold out in a matter of hours, if not minutes, while the reg. editions of pieces such as these take weeks and sometimes months to sell out. Obviously the excl's are an incentive [whether it be because of the excl. itself or the traditionally lower ES's attached to excl's] to buy one version over another, and this applies even when the excl's are not so hot such as in the cases of Indy, Legolas, and yes...even the Terminator.

Of course they sell, their the same price as the regulars in most cases if not a little more. So why wouldnt people opt to go with an EX?...I'd say 99% of the people that buy EX's... figure "why not".
However, if you widened the price gaps between EX's and regulars those figures would change pretty quick I can assure you.

If the EX PF T-800 sold for $400...a 2 inch plastic arm is in NO WAY incentive enough for anyone to spend and addtional $100 to get an "exclusive" piece. The concept would apply to every other EX out there also. EX's sell faster because they are price matched very close to regulars. But that doesnt mean the extra stuff you get with an EX qualifys it as something really special that your getting. It costs SS very little to manufacture and extra part like that...but will bring in alot of extra revenue. Its $15,000 extra they will make off the EX vs the regular...and probably cost them $3000-$4000 to do...maybe less.

Thats true, but not the case....they dont do it for us, they do it as incentive to sell more. They dont have to, but they would be stupid not to....its all business.
All im saying is the EX's they've been pushing out dont really qualify as "incentive" to buy one version over the other.

The PF T-800 has an arm that cant be used for anything on the piece. Its so out of place that if someone bought the regular version they would lilterally be getting the exact same thing as the EX. They only way you know someone is displaying the EX version is because the BOX says so.

$20 more for a cheap plastic arm that will never be displayed..."not incentive"

My comment was based solely on your remark... "All im saying is the EX's they've been pushing out dont really qualify as "incentive" to buy one version over the other", which is not accurate or factual.

Sure if you want to add the comment about SS "widening the price gaps between EX's and regulars" into the equation that would change things somewhat, though adding an additional $50 to the cost of the excl. ringwraith dio. didn't seem to dissuade people from buying the entire 400 edition in 4 1/2 minutes flat.

But that remark is pure speculation, nothing more. The point is ....they don't charge significantly more, and they don't have to. SS makes an additionally 30% profit on each and every item they sell on their own website as opposed to selling to retailers, and since excl's are only available directly from them it has created a perfect scenario for them to maximize their profits by selling their most sought after products directly to their customers......a great business strategy.

I always thought the LSB nameplates were a corny EX.

IMO, they REALLY need to do away with them, but keep the line going. Just add only 100 more to the regular busts ES.

I wonder if SS is going to do away with EXs in general, aside from convention Exclusives? No one seems to be buying the current regular editions, if there is a EX version.

Depends on the line... and some lines are slower to sell out, but still reach the mark.

At this point I don't think they would abandon the nameplates for the Marvel Line as its been a mainstay.

exclusives cant be that good otherwise no one would buy the regular editions, everyone would just want to buy ex. and as sideshow produce more regs than exs they dont want to shoot themselves in the foot :dunno

Well no, that it is not true because SS items can be found cheaper from Etailers, up to 10-15% cheaper, so if people really don't want the exclusive then they will go for a regular version from a different, cheaper, supplier
