Re: SSC Luke Skywalker Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure

I think SS would need to do something about the hair, repaint the head a bit and soften out some of the features to make this look like Luke. HT would need to make a new head entirely. I could be wrong though.

Really amazing what better hair does for that HT sculpt....

Makes it look almost perfect...

Nice work.

Re: SSC Luke Skywalker Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure

How about the HT Bespin Luke? I think it's dead-on.

And it's funny....I think that's the worst of the bunch...the regular head that is. The battle damaged is pretty good....but that regular head....gah!

Re: SSC Luke Skywalker Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure

You can clearly see from Ekcmarco's comparison that both sculpts are off. I feel Sideshow comes closer to a likeness of Hamil and Hot Toys comes closer to realism, but I think Sideshow could capture that realism with a better paint app.

Yes, I think the Bespin Luke sculpt is an excellent likeness.

I think the hair sculpt is what leads people to not give it the credit it really deserves.

I think it’s good. But doesn’t seem like a dead ringer the way certain figures are.

Nice comparison, the HT jawline and chin are too wide. I've thought this the whole time actually. But this chows it clearly. Really hope HT can remove a bit of material from the jawline.

Nice comparison photo. At 1st seeing the SS I thought the head sculpt may have looked a little better, but after that great photo with the hair swap HT does look more like Hamill. As someone else said before, the SS looks as if it's an older Luke years down the road, or more like the SW Battlefront II game model. I still actually like both though. This really is a tough one...

Re: SSC Luke Skywalker Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure

The HT head could definitely be a bit narrower, but it still easily beats the SS for looking like a real person. While the SS just looks weird and distorted with that huge chin and jaw.

HT also gave him that wider mouth Hamill has, which is an important feature a lot of sculpts seem to miss.

Re: SSC Luke Skywalker Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure

Both HT and SS would need to be reworked to look like Luke. I though sanding the sharp edges and repainting the SS would be the easier option (maybe make it look more like a person rather than a 3D sketch), but now I think just shaving down the jawline on HT could do it.

Untouched, the HT head was giving me more of a Tom Welling vibe than Mark Hamill

The SS seems vertically stretched a bit, but i think it’s mostly the hair sculpt, mostly in the back—makes the shape of his head wrong. The hair seems to be such an issue with Luke figures.

Re: SSC Luke Skywalker Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure

The SS face looks rough to me. Like a subpar custom or a WIP.

Re: SSC Luke Skywalker Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure

I have to say that since SSC Jedi Luke was the first figure that got me started into all of this, at the price of $49.99 :lol, there is a part of me that want to get this just to show the progression between where the line started and where it is now.

Re: SSC Luke Skywalker Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure

Perhaps in another 10 years they’ll be at Hot Toys quality.

Re: SSC Luke Skywalker Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure

Its funny, because just a few years ago, someone would have brought up Jodie Foster Luke when talking about "the best", so at least we've progressed as collectors, if only a little. :lol

I know right!! Amazing that SS is pricing their stuff more than HT. I do like the head sculpt more on the SS than HT but I feel the quality will be better with HT. Though I do love the Death Star outfit on the SS.

Re: SSC Luke Skywalker Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure

I see Tom Brady and that dude that played Kirk in the new Star Trek.
A Love child with no mother.

Yeah, I mentioned how the SSC face looks very Chris Pine a few days ago, but it does bring up that discussion of how many actors have a somewhat similar look. Hamill also looked a lot like contemporaries Harry Hamlin (face from some angles) and Robby Benson.
