So the Phoenix comicon is coming up in May and I already have my passes; only cost $25 for the full 3 days plus preview, although I only plan on attending 1-1.5 days.

anyway, I just got this in an email:

Stan “The Man” Lee, whose legendary comic book career has spanned over 60 years, is the creative mind behind many of the biggest names in the comic book universe, including co-creating Iron Man, Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Hulk, Thor and numerous others, and his body of work is far and away the most extensive in the history of comic books. At 87 years of age, Stan Lee is more active than ever with an unmatched career as a Writer, Editor, Publisher, Producer, and Actor.
Stan Lee will be attending Sunday of our convention. He will be signing autographs, posing for photographs, and engaging in a one hour Q&A. A complete schedule will be posted once confirmed.

Says our Director Matt Solberg, "Stan Lee's appearance is for all those who have supported us over the years, and for those who believe like we do that with great conventions comes great guests. We are one big happy geek family, and as Stan Lee is the Godfather of modern comics and geek-dom join us in welcoming him to the valley of the sun."
Autograph registration for Stan Lee's SUNDAY ONLY signing.
Limit three (3) registrations per person, each registration entitles you to one (1) autograph from Stan "The Man" Lee.

After purchase, you will be sent a confirmation email with a unique paypal code. Print out the confirmation number and bring it along with your matching photo ID to the Phoenix Comicon to check-in and receive your on-site autograph pass.
The table location to redeem your onsite pass will be announced on our website and emailed to everyone by May 16th.

You will be assigned a time slot for signing - this time will be e-mailed to you in advance so you can plan ahead and know when to show up for your autographs. This ensures that there is a set number of people per signing and everyone gets a chance to get their items signed in an orderly fashion. There will be no photos available during the signing times, there will be a separate photo opportunity with Stan Lee at the show.

All information will be e-mailed to you by May 16th. Thank you!
Purchase your Special Registrations for Stan Lee before they sell out!

So 1 autograph is $50. you think this is worth it? I was maybe thinking of having my Hulk and Spiderman PF bases signed, but not so sure anymore at this cost.

Then again, he's 87... 87! and sadly won't be around for much longer, so this may be my only shot.

l think its stupid celebs who already have millions charge there fans for autographs.if l was a celeb l would do it for free.any way l would get the bases signed.it will increase the value of your marval pfs.or at least get one signed.l would take at least one it will be worth it in the end.but make sure you get a pic of him signing for authenticity if you want to resell it for more because of the autograph.but go for it at least one.

That's easy to say for a non-celeb. Signing autographs takes time. Not everyone's time is worthless.

i wish that was the asking price here in sdcc.

i would pay that price just to meet him and a pic with him.

You think that's bad, Mark Hamill charges $100 for the first, $90 for the second and $100 for any after that. :monkey4:monkey4:monkey4

Well, that must be his only income, don't be too hard on him

Oh SNAP! :lol :lol :lol

He used to sign through the mail for free. Lately he has apparently stopped taking TTM requests according to to a response given on another website that he stopped taking requests as of March 21st due to his hectic schedule and the amount of autograph requests. Don't know if it's a short term or a permanent thing.

The $50 fee might be the only way to obtain an autograph from him. If you want to try and send something through the mail, I wouldn't send him anything valuable (such as the bases to your PF's, you'd probably never get them back). If you do send an autograph request, write him a short letter and make sure you enclose a SASE that will cover the cost of getting your items back. His address is listed as:

Stan Lee
Pow! Entertainment, Inc.
9440 Santa Monica Blvd.
Suite 620
Beverly Hills, CA 90210-4608

Good Luck!

Ultimately, you could look at it as paying $50 to meet perhaps the most influential person on the things that bring you some of the greatest joys in your life. I'd gladly pay $50 to meet Bruce Springsteen.

So I slept on it, and just now bought 1X for autographs. I guess it is the norm to see lots of celebrities charging for autographs, and there is no bigger legend than Stan Lee when it comes to comics.

So, what should I get him to sign? I don't have any comics that are significant enough in value for him to sign, and they would just sit in a box, so I'd much rather have him sign a statue. and I'm guessing signing the base is the way to go. Which one?

- Hulk PF
- Spiderman PF (I'm hesitant on this as this piece isn't in high demand)
- Doom PF (this may be difficult as it's all one piece and weighs a ton)
- X-Men #1 Dio
