Re: Star Trek TOS head sculpts

Uniform looks great, though there's definitely something "off"with the overall figure. Neck's a bit long, and Jimmy was never that buff(hell of a nice guy, though).Something about the face isn't working for me,either.Maybe it lacks the "spark" that yours have,Spens...PS

Re: Star Trek TOS head sculpts

Spark? Thanks, I try...

I do have to say, the 3D printed heads have no life to them, and lack detail. They hit some likeness point but overall look mechanical.
I’m going to sculpt a Scotty, Sulu, and Chekov very soon even if no one buys them. :lol

I have all three and think they look really good. For the price of a painted head there a steal.

I'd buy Sulu and Chekov. But I would rather have a Matt Deckard. Or any of the Aliens.

I just watched Doomsday Machine last night and thought about doing a Commodore Decker sculpt.

Re: Star Trek TOS head sculpts

Several years ago the model shop I was working in got a contract to do some Original Trek sculpts for one of the collectible companies(Danbury, I think). We did Scotty, Uhura, Sulu and Checkov. As the resident"Trek" expert(and second sculptor)I was heavily involved;I roughed up the figures and the senior sculptor finished the likenesses(he was much better at them than I).Of the 4, scotty was actually one of the better ones, along with Uhura(I still have castings 0f them).Don't know if they ever made it to the market...Anyway,I'll be very interested to see what you do with your next round of Trek sculpts. My current 3 are just waiting on their uniforms before they join the main collection...PS

Any pix? I think I recall Danbury or someone a number of years ago putting out Trek, altghough out of my $ range at the time.

Re: Star Trek TOS head sculpts

Not yet, but I can take some.I had started painting Scotty, but it wasn't working out, so he's a bit rough looking; Uhura is still pristine. One bit of weirdness;because they were using a generic circular base, we had to re-disign the base of the bridge chair to a small disc that is completely in-adequate for the task. Something else I was going to fix with my castings...PS

Re: Star Trek TOS head sculpts

I did have a thread here but I can't find it. I'll dig up the pictures.

No I never did Urban's McCoy, but I'll do it soon.

Re: Star Trek TOS head sculpts

Yeah I would love to see those as well.
