1/6 Star wars 1/6 SDCC 2019 Speculation

That's been my problem with it, well just one of them I suppose haha. If that's what they wanted to do, all the characters should've appeared in Ep 7 and then as background/leaders or whatever after. Not have a Han, then Luke, then (supposed) Leia led movie.

They did it with E7 and E8 and people got mad. Now they bring something back and hope people will be happy again. I'm talking about the characters. Still, I think Lando and maybe even Chewie will die in E9.

Don't forget Palpatine. For the total undoing of meaning to the OT.

I may be in the minority here, but I really hope palpatine isn’t alive in the movie. I hope it’s a ghost or holo recording or something. If not, it really dumps on rotj more than anything else.
That said, I am hopeful for a few good ot reveals next week.

I'm almost positive it's pretty much general knowledge that nobody had a grand plan when starting the ST.

If not, there's also zero evidence that proves that theory wrong

That’s how I feel also. Disney Star Wars for me is purely fan fiction. The heir to the empire series is a way better follow up to rotj, warts and all. I cared about those characters (Mara, thrawn, karrde).

There's definitely something to be said for the original Thrawn books and Dark Empire comics being Lucas approved *and* Hamill approved.

At the time, I loved those books and comics and they reignited my fandom. I think I was 15.
Thanks for costing me a fortune Timothy zahn. Say what you want about them, we got a heroic luke, a great han and leia story arc, great villains, and a it wasn’t a rehash. It was the empire struggling to stay in power. The heroes struggling to hold a galaxy together.
There were other good books and others were terrible.
Those 3 were what Star Wars needed at the time.
I do love rogue one, so they can make a good movie.
Anyway, bring on sdcc and give us the bespin han and lando we deserve.

Is Palpatine even in the movie? Last I read he is just a typical J.J. mystery box McGuffin and will just end up being some sort of hologram recording in the end. The leaks I read could be completely fraudulent of course.

Solo was a fun film too. Nothing groundbreaking, but I enjoy watching it.
Apart from L3. That can get in the bin.

Bringing back Palpatine doesn't "render the OT pointless"... the fact that Anakin sacrificed himself for his son is not diminished by Palpatine's survival.

Word. And Thrawn and Coruscant have become part of the canon.

I remember even thinking when TPM came out, a lack of midichlorians could explain why Thrawn's lizards were Force "black spots".

Why would you need to have a story arc plan for what was the biggest franchise in the world ?....... That would be too basic.

I'm likely going to wait but given how the ST troopers are selling, I don't know if HTs will justify it to release a deluxe version down the road. Demand might be low. But then I got a big ebay bucks coupon that's expiring at the end of the month........ lol
