Sideshow not at the star wars collectors panel. First time i’ve seen this at comic con. However hot toys was mentioned but not sideshow at all. License seems to be gone for future pieces. Which is why it’s all previous work and distribution. All rumor but noshow sideshow.

Yeah that’s very telling. I’ve got to believe at this point SS is all distribution. Probably got the green light to finish the Boba Fett Mythos figure since it was already up for preorder and we’ll into production. And canceled Lando Skiff because it hadn’t went to preorder.
And no new PF statues
SS is finished with Star Wars in my opinion.

I agree. Buy the Jabba 2.0 and the Yoda Legendary scale statue if so inclined. Both are among the best things Sideshow ever made and an excellent way to wave goodbye to them.

Finally.

Sideshow's loss hasn't improved the offerings this show though.

As it should be.

With that opinion you clearly haven’t bought Jabba yet have you?[emoji4][emoji6]
...I’m gonna miss SSC. They were lacking behind on quality, but they produced the more interesting characters imo.

:exactly:

People talking about a HT Greedo... :slap SSC is the only company that would have done a new Greedo in 1/6. Same iwth Veers, same with Ackbar etc. Yeah, it would have cost $240, but it actually would have been great. Nobody should be gloating over the end of SSC SW 1/6.

Agree.
I honestly don’t see HT making figures that only sell a couple of thousand pieces. I don’t think they’ll produce the Jawas or Kit Fisto. Or yes a Greedo... they can prove me wrong, but I’m afraid they won’t.

Kit Fisto and the black astromech are obvious non-starters but I think because the Jawas are a 3 pack, and have R5 in the mix as a "part" I actually think they'll do them.

They are all kind of easy to produce - no headsculpts to sculpt/paint, pretty simple outfits, no hugely complex additions (leather goods a bit,) R5 is 3/4s re-use and only a slight repaint. And let's face it, that new power droid would cost them about $5 to produce yet will bump the cost of the set by $75.

You might be right. The Jawas would be at least something -even if we already have the SSC ones. ...and I’m crossing my fingers for Ewoks. They might sell enough for HT to bother.

I wonder which of the totally new reveals will be the first to preorder? I don’t mean jango and Endor leia who we’ve seen already. Wicket seems like the most complete prototype, but I am nervous about its release. The Jawa set seems like a hot toys tease. Maybe luke bespin 2.0 is the August preorder, if ht can find space in between marvel releases. That was a lot of marvel on display.

Judging from the absolute lack of Black Series 6'' reveals we're lucky we got anything at all this year. It seems most of the companies are keeping their powder dry until Force Friday for TROS and The Mandalorian. SDCC 2020 should be far more interesting.

Well now that SS is no more, we'll see exactly what we do get with them out of the mix.

So far, HT has hinted at last that they will do aliens -- Jawas and Kit Fisto. Perhaps the political shenanigans ate up a lot of prep time for this year, perhaps this new opening has HT sourcing all kinds of crazy SW things, perhaps we'll just get more Lukes.

But at least now... we'll see.

And no, I didn't get Sideshow's last Star Wars foray -- Jabba!

I think an HT Jabba is even more likely now.

Completely agree! Maybe the reason HT is moving forward making aliens now is because SS is out.

If SS is out perhaps HT used this con to get a feel for what would & wouldn’t likely sell...maybe that’s why the offerings were so random....I mean they know main characters will sell so no need to do a heat check

I don't see the Ewoks or Jawas to make production honestly. Don't think we'll get a Star Wars PO until TROS marketing starts. Maybe some reveals in between when the deluxe Luke and Solo figures come out. There's just still so much Marvel stuff TBA...

I can't agree more, I've found all Sideshow releases very lacking in quality including their new Jabba, I have the first version and actually prefer it over Mr. Potato Head. Whenever Sideshow teased a new Star Wars figure it would be annoying because that meant Hot Toys wouldn't make it in a long while. The only exception to this was ROTJ Luke that had supposedly been ready years before and the new Yoda that I don't know what was going through Sideshows' head when they decided to launch that thing. We can also thank Sideshow for the recent price hike in figures, where they charge more than Hot Toys for a barebones figure with inferior quality.

Hopefully with this turn of events we can finally get the Hot Toys Snowspeeder Luke and Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike we've been waiting years for.

Regarding the lack of new OT figures, be patient HT knows that's money in the bank and are holding them out for the 2 years after Episode 9 that Star Wars will be on hiatus.

And I'm guessing if Mandalorian hits big in the way it seems, we will be seeing a ton of stuff from that in the post-TROS period. Then there's the Cassian/RO-era series...

These are going to massive because they will be among the first out of the gate from the new Disney streaming service (globally.) Meaning they'll be higher profile than a regular streaming series launch, not at the level of a new theatrical movie, but up there. Which means HT will be more inclined to dive in with figs.

And it's Fett-focussed and Empire focused - and how many Fetts and Imperials have HT done so far? (ROTJ, ESB, animated, proto... on Fett alone) That means the Fett/Empire troops look sells well in Asia, so Mandalorian will be a priority.

While Mandalorian will have some "dual-use" figs that will match up to OT figs, many will be like IG-88 - tweaked to a point where it doesn't quite work for an OT version.

i dont know man this one just inexplicably make me :lol

In the light of current overt dissapointments, at least I prefer to think we have a Director Krennic, a Grand Moff Tarkin and a nearly complete collection of Sith, even a ****** 20 second on screen Darth Maul with mechanical legs from a disastrously bombed film was put to PO :lol.

While look at our neighbor Marvel, except for Thanos, obviously the most iconic antagonist in entire saga that being made, Marvel collectors technically were screaming for Hot Toys villians...no Black Order members, no Cable, no Mysterio, no Yellow Jacket, no Vulture, basically nothing... and that really does put a smile on my face :).
