I was holding off watching because I wanted to get through something else first.

Just dipped into the first episode and think I saw a Blade Runner-esque red light district!

It seems promising. :lol

loved the new droid who has a real The Black Hole vibe to him.
Definitely a bit of "Old Bob" and "Vincent" but I'd say this guy owes his existence to Wall-E.

How is it?

As others are describing; there's a character arc I think to me comes off as a bit rushed and could be paced better - for me it was a bit uneven re pacing, but IMO definitely a series to watch, and definitely a different, mature, gritty approach to SW.

Hard to say much without spoiling.

I'm still watching the first episode but I'm having the same problem I had with Rogue One: I don't care about this guy. He's a plank of wood. And now I especially don't care about him cause I know he ends up getting vaporized by the first Death Star anyway.

I don't know how they managed to make Mando such an interesting and captivating character right from the first frame, especially given that he didn't even show his face, but there it is. By the first few minutes of Mando I cared about the guy and was invested. This guy? Don't care. Maybe it IS the armor after all...

I agreed with you on my first viewing of RO. Thought he was a boring.

But repeated viewing made me really like this character. I liked the idea of a rebel who did some evil **** in the name of the rebellion.

Looking forward to watching tonight

Huh. Not really sure what to make of this. It's certainly not for me, I can tell that much. Just drab and dull as dishwater in every way, from the production design and costumes to the acting to the long boring dialogue. Nothing about this feels like any incarnation of Star Wars to me, and certainly not the Star Wars I enjoy.

But I'm not here to **** all over it. It's different. They're taking a chance. They're trying new things. So that's good, and it appears already that a lot of you are really into this already.

Personally, I'm not gonna bother watching any more, but I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what gratuitous cameos the higher-ups insist on shoehorning in.

That's sort of the challenge of new Star Wars...if you create new characters, sometimes they don't resonate with the long time fans. I think with Mando it definitely has an element of it being the armor. It's similar to Boba Fett and Mandalorians in general are pretty cool in Star Wars. Imagine if in ESB that Dengar and not Boba Fett did all the things Boba did (track solo, stand up to Vader, be cool in the dining hall). Would he be one of the most popular characters in pop culture or just another Weequay or Barada. I think the answer is we wouldn't care anymore about Dengar than we do now... (Sorry for the Dengar lovers out there).

As far as Cassian being bland I always thought that was because he had emotionally detached himself so he could get the job done, in both this and RO he kills *innocent* people pretty quickly from the out. The difference here is there are massive consequences behind his decision.

Dengar is worthy, you hush your mouth about Dengar. [Admittedly the only people who care about him are Legends fans.... and those who read the comics ]

Yes, that Mando armor has its own magic and any character who puts it on is blessed. If you know what I mean.

I will watch an episode of this Andor stuff tonight and my expectations are in the basement, so surprise me Disney.

He's a broken man pretending he has his **** together.

I couldn't have cared less about this before it landed - BOBF and Obi-Wan had made me SW impotent; particularly Obi-Wan (Ewok movies level bad) - but when I saw some reviews yesterday, I accepted I was a glutton for punishment.

But so far, I have to pull my head in.

Some really good moments, but, even for someone who appreciates a slow burn, I have to say, this is next level slow burn. Just makes a lot of it feel like padding. The flashback stuff would have done its job handled in 5 minutes.

But that's my only real gripe. Other than the pace, I appreciate the mature approach and trying to give us something different that isn't a joke ("Geode").

At least I'm curious and invested enough to see where it goes.

Saying that, is it something I will want to watch repeatedly? Doubt it...
