Yeah...stormtroopers get humiliated like this far too often. At some point I want to see a character who thinks he (or she) is all that try to take out a squad of stormies with a stick - and get shot the hell down.

The nature of this show; presumably about Andor joining the Rebellion, fighting the Empire, they can't be doing this stupid, slapstick, let's all laugh at stormies thing.

Wishful thinking.... This IS Disney we are talking about. They find a way to put comedy in everything now a days. It's really getting disheartening. I enjoy comedy/satire, but it's getting ridiculous.
When I watch a serious movie/show with no forced situational laughs or comedic relief now a days, I feel like I hit Cinematic gold.
Loved the Terminal List on Amazon Prime. And The Old Man is great too. Don't believe I ever laughed once during any of either show's episodes..

Yeah going by most of his previous work (watched the Bourne series and Beirut) , I don't think Gilroy will lend himself to much to the slapshtick, what he is doing is a more serious spy thriller.
Seemed part of his condition to work was absolute control, hence the more serious tone.
Also why they are likely saving K2 and the more fun Tudyk for the last episodes.
As a Rebel spy, saboteur, sniper, assassin looses his own humanity, he in-tun reprograms a cold Imperial assassin droid to be more human, as the final irony.
Cue people now complaining it's to grim, and not enough funny scenes of troopers getting bonked!

Screeners have been sent out for the first 4 episodes of the show. Here's a non-spoiler review (courtesy of Reddit) from a guy who's seen all 4 of those episodes. Really no need for someone to lie, the episodes are already out there and I wouldn't be shocked if they turn up on certain torrent sites well in advance of the show airing.

I’ve seen the first four and it’s the most serious, grounded thing Star Wars has ever done. It feels more like an English-made espionage thriller than Star Wars. It is totally unconcerned with giving you fan service moments, and instead wants to delve into what it’s like for the bit players in this universe to wake up every morning and go about their day. This is not space opera. It’s more space drama. It’s slow, deliberate, complex (for Star Wars) and asks the viewer to do some work. It actually humanizes roles that are traditionally cartoon evil in the SW universe. It’s attempting to tell a grown up story, and I think a lot of fans are going to haaaate it. Both Gilroy’s presence is all over this thing. It’s got that cinema verite vibe that the core Bourne movies had going for them. Puts you in the world like never before. Whether the world can hold up to that level of scrutiny is up for debate, but it is fascinating.

Works for me. I thought Mando was different; grittier tho it seemed to slide down that slippery slope of rehash. Still, the theme of someone who walks the code, and is wrestling with the code vs. different experiences, is something I still find intriguing. Like the S2 Mayfield episode IMO was one of the very best.
This sounds more adult and intriguing too.
Besides being something, I hope, besides the Skywalkers or much hint of the Skywalkers, a family I was pretty burnt out on. It's like there's not an entire galaxy out there.
"Fan" review sounds about right. I'm looking forward to serious Star Wars for a time.

After reading what has already been bluntly stated about the script/story I don't know how this "Star Wars" show could possibly be taken seriously.

Is this their new form of damage control for this show in case people start complaining about it? It's like telling legacy fans to prepare for a show they might not like. Gilroy could care less about Star Wars. He made that quite clear with his rounds over RO, and how they were lost without him and how he saved the terrible movie.
