This has just made my day!! One of my very favorite games from my childhood has finally been re-released in a working (and polished) state. After years of tinkering with iffy mods and barely getting parts of it to run, GOG have listened and given us an official and stable version again. I've never spent £6 quicker in my life..... Enjoy!

I know, I'm so happy, I hope playing it again doesn't ruin any of my fantastic memories of this title. Installing it now so I'll report back tomorrow I guess. Get a PC stat!! :lol

F-Zero never made it to PC did it?

The gameplay is still solid. There was a fix for the game that was put out a year or two ago, main issue was that while current versions of DirectX are supposed to be backwards compatible it wasn't working correctly and most textures wouldn't show but there's a fix for that.

I'll have to check this version when I get home, but hopefully they fix some of the other stuff like some of the interaction and the multiplayer.

Fun times playing that game.
And easily the most original and interesting part of any prequel/sequel/spin-off trilogy so far.

Not really but you could always ask a Dolphin to lend you a han...err flipper. :monkey3

GX is a rare breed because despite being brutally dificult at times it's still lots of fun. The lovechild of Nintendo and Sega sure is an overlooked gem.

Back to E1R: I wonder if it is still possible to play with two controllers? That secret setup was really wacky! :lol

There's no split screen so the only way to play with a friend is to have 2 PC's

Seems like a good fix, has full 1080p support and stuff seems to work properly.

By the way, if you want the best control option map thrust and angle down to the same key, it will allow you to maintain speed while turning and allow you to boost more often.

Well I've completed it and had a lot of fun. It runs mostly fine with a few none game breaking issues that you might expect from such an old title. 80% of the time after finishing a race for example, it jarringly and quickly cuts back to the race selection screen rather than having the normal camera chase scene with all of the lap times etc while the other racers finish. An annoyance but it's better than not running at all. There is one section on the snow planet where I've been randomly blowing up every lap weirdly. But over all it's been fun. For £6 or your equivalent, this is definitely worth a buy for the nostalgia alone. I am happy to report however that despite it's obviously dated graphics, it really doesn't look that bad due to how fast you're traveling, and the game play is as fun as ever.

Only setting up the Xbox controller to my exact preferences is proving frustrating. I need to play around again to figure out which axes need inverting etc. It does work however.

I don't recall it being on DC or PC, I think it was an N64 thing only. It wasn't half cool though if not overly practical.
