With the 30th Anniversary year drawing to a close, many of us have been wondering whether Sideshow will continue to use the redesigned packaging for the Star Wars 12" figures in 2008 and beyond, or return to the original package design that was introduced when the line began.

So please use this thread to post your opinion and state your preferences. Do you like the universal black/grey 30th Anniversary box design, or the original detailed/individualized color style approach?

(Speaking for myself, I liked that each sub-line (Sith, Jedi, Scum, etc.) had a unique color scheme and in retrospect I kind of like the old school packaging better for that reason--the boxes didn't look like clones of each other and stood out more. While there is something clean and sharp about the redesigned look, in general it lacks the variety and character of the original Sideshow design.)

I loved that the original packaging was almost like a piece of artwork along with your figure, but I also like the product showcasing ability of the 30th Anniversary design.

My vote is, keep the 30th box design, but, include a pack in display poster that is more of an artsy portrayal of the figure to use in collection displays.

I strongly prefer the original. It looks great when placed behind the posed 1/6 figure... I'm not a very big fan of the 30th packaging.

Definitely prefer the original... the 30th while understandable, was pretty blah. Bring back the original :rock

Without doubt, the original. The 30th is nice and clean, but a bit boring. I like the more artistic element of the original packaging.

I for one display my figures with the packaging. Lets just say I really really miss the original packaging. One good reason for me is that they put the portrait slightly to the right on the old style. So when I put the figure in the middle you could still see it. Now it is blocked. Second I liked the color coding. I thought it added something to the boxes. Oh well. From what I hear it isn't changing. :monkey2

I used to collect Garbage Pail Kid cards. I liked how every different series had a different package. I kind of wish Sideshow would follow suit by changing the packaging every year. So I would choose neither. I want something new.

That being said I would prefer the original design over the 30th anni design.

i agree.

btw what the fk is han doing back there???

I wish they came in a white box. That way I wouldn't feel like I had to hold on to them and clutter up my closet with big bulky boxes full of big bulky boxes. :monkey1

This is a great idea! I was displaying my figures like BadMoon until the packaging changed, and then I ditched the boxes due to the inconsistent look. Having a little carboard portrait or series of stills (like the back of the box) included would be a cool way to set these guys up.

That makes me think of a similar idea. It would be cool is Sideshow provided a scenic backdrop to place behind the figure for display.

I like the 30th style. Lean sharp lines, I love it.

And I think Badmoon's Han looks like he has to pee really bad and is try to hold.

I'm gonna go with the Original just because I like the many designs you get with it. The 30th has grown on me though and have enjoyed the look it gives as well.

It's funny--I preferred the new design when I first saw it, but after a year of getting items in the matching boxes (and not just from Sideshow), they all just kind of look the same. I would like to go back to the character images and color coded schemes of the Scum/Sith/Jedi lines.
