PS> How thick do you put the paint on? I love paintings that have a lot of texture in the paint... an almost 3D effect.

I paint pretty thin, the thick expressionistic approach works beautifully for Freud, Auerback, Kossof etc but if you're going for photo-realism, thin is better, painting on accumulated layers of skein is a pain.
