I had a Star Wars dream last night.
I know, I know...there's no possible worse way to start a sentence than with "In my dream last night..." I hate hearing about other people's dreams. It's bad enough hearing boring ass stories about their lives, but stories that aren't even REAL? Get outta here. I have a rule that no description of a dream should ever be more than one sentence long. "I had a dream that my old music teacher was a vampire." Boom. Done. Not "Oh man, in my dream I was in my old house but I knew it wasn't MY house cause I've moved but I was there anyway for some reason, and then I noticed...." No. Never.
ANYWAY.
This will take more than a sentence, so please indulge me. Or don't.
In my dream, there's a Star Wars universe equivalent of Halloween where everyone loves dressing up in costumes. There's a lot of potential to wear a blatantly racist costume of a species you don't like and stuff like that. We can imagine how it would go. Wookiees and Trandoshans hate each other, etc.
The Empire strictly forbids anyone ever dressing in their uniforms. Penalty of death and all that. But...you know how people are, there's a group of rapscallions that do it every year anyway. And one of the most popular costumes is of course Darth Vader. They all meet on some barren asteroid every year and have a secret Darth Vader cosplay party with lots of drinking and dancing.
But what they don't know is....Vader actually loves it. He goes every year and blends in with the crowd, and it's the one day a year he actually has fun and enjoys himself.
There's fake Boba Fetts there, too. One year, the real Vader and the real Boba Fett spot each other in the crowd, but they don't say anything. They just stare at each other for a moment and then walk away. But they both "knew."
And that was it. Did I dream up the plot for an imaginary 8 page Star Wars Tales comic book....or was this already an 8 page comic book in some back issue of Star Wars Tales that I read 20 years ago and forgot about?
