Not necessarily, at least not for my old ass.

I will always cherish my OT experience.

I will always cherish my unaltered OT discs.

I will also cherish RO, Andor and Mando S1/S2 and yes S3 and BoBF for those 2 Mando episodes.

I will never ever until the end of my days own anything Sonic related or even watch a Sonic movie lol

A horrifically woke and boneheaded ST won’t ruin SW for me, sorry to break your hearts.

Hell each of the ST have a scene that I love:

TFA: Falcon escape in 2D and especially in 3D is outstanding!

TLJ: The praetorian guard fight short as it is.

TROS: Ocean lightsaber battle and Han’s redemption, great stuff best scene in all of the ST. / Lando’s calvary at the end with his charming laugh.

There’s not much to like is there lol

Felt the same about Rob Zombies Halloween films.

I think its very telling that "heroes" are made of serial killers like Myers, Jason, Freddie and even Hannibal Lector. Many people here even have dolls of those characters. Idolizing.

But then, is it really any different than Alien, Terminator and Predator?

My freaking teenage daughter said she watched the second one at a friend's house and started crying over the brutality of what he did to a girl in that one. She said that her and her friends had to turn it off halfway through. Yeah, not interested but it's nice to know that one of my own kids is now scarred for life, lol.

Art the Clown was best in the original 2011 short film, which became part of All Hallows' Eve, in which he also provided the links between the stories.

He was intensely creepy and disgusting, but the gore was at the top end of what you'd expect from a horror movie.

Since then each of the Terrifier titled movies have become more and more extreme, graphically and thematically.

Terrifier 3 was a struggle to get through, and towards the end I was getting so queasy I thought I was going to be sick.

Looking at the IMBD trivia afterwards apparently even David Howard Thornton had the same reaction.

The rat tube scene truly made Art The Clown actor David Howard Thornton nauseous and he had to prevent himself from throwing up.

By contrast, a little while ago I rewatched one of my favourite horror movies: John Carpenter's The Fog. It surprises me every time how little graphic horror there is in it - I don't think there was even any blood at all - and yet it's a really effective, creepy ghost story.


Less is more, especially when the writing and pacing is good.

Scott Derrickson, best known as the director of Doctor Strange, was recently asked what kind of Star Wars movie he would make, given the chance. Derrickson, before making his trip to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, directed horror movies such as Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Taking to Twitter, in a since-deleted tweet, Derrickson explained that he would like to exercise his horror chops in a galaxy far, far away. Here's what he had to say about it.

"Just asked what kind of Star Wars movie I would make. I answered that I would make Hoth , an R-rated frozen planet horror film in the vein of The Thing or Lovecraft's In the Mountains of Madness, with zero connection to any previous characters or storylines."

This is, to say the very least of it, quite unlike anything we've ever seen from the franchise before. We know that Lucasfilm is going to move away from familiar characters in the future, with abundant rumors that The Old Republic will be explored in the next trilogy of movies. But something this different, is that even possible? It feels terribly unlikely, though perhaps not impossible, with one big caveat.

Star Wars was always something aimed at younger viewers that everyone can enjoy. So the idea of making something R-rated, potentially with a lot of blood and gruesome imagery, feels like it might be getting away from what the core of the franchise has historically been. That said, if something like this could be toned down, there's no reason to think a standalone horror movie on Hoth with a more hard-edged, PG-13 tone, couldn't work. But that's not what Derrickson wants to do. The filmmaker stepped aside as director of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. With that, it's unlikely the Derrickson would want to step into a franchise that has had plenty of issues with directors in recent years behind the scenes.

I'm sure women make up the audience for these types of film aswell, but I just don't understand what satisfaction is to be had in films like that.

The heroes win in those. The bad guys can be killed so there's a cathartic victory to be felt at the end. When the Predator or Alien or Terminator return in sequels it's because they're not the same individuals. The original baddies stay dead.....well....except Big Chap Alien apparently.

It's always done to women isn't it. To increase the shock and horror factor. I just...I don't like it. Really poor taste.

Franchised grotesquerie with a bad guy who seemingly can't die because franchise.

The film Bone Tomahawk had a disturbing scene very similar to one in Terrifier but that was a good film with characters who were actually worth spending time with. The bad guys were freaky but mortal. At least some of the characters escaped with their lives. It's a one-off film, no cheap sequel-baiting promising further, escalated violence and gore for the sake of gore.
