It's got 126 mins for approx run time.

That sounds a lot shorter than what you've proposed there. :lol

Yeah, that's a bit odd. I guess if it looks like there might be any CG shots in the movie, it's the director's cut. He didn't go full Lucas, but they did get rid of the matte paintings on Vulcan and that sort of thing.

My earliest cinema memories were 10 years later, films like Masters of the Universe, Beetlejuice and Batman '89.

The only Star Trek films I've actually seen in the cinema are Generations, First Contact, Insurrection and the first Abrams movie.
I saw Insurrection in the cinema too, & thought that was boring as well. The only other ones I think I saw were The Undiscovered Country, & possibly Generations. The TNG films just didn't translate well to the big screen did they, which was disappointing.

Love this Star Trek thread.

So 32 years later and droids still have to insert their data arm into a computer terminal?

I guess they need that as a visual reference to the OT, maybe the Bothans will steal the plans for Bluetooth. :lol

Haven't been watching the trailers/tv spots, but if it's R2 doing that, then yeah he'd be a pretty old piece of equipment at this stage of the game. Maybe he never got the wireless upgrade.

:lol

I'm referring to BB8 in the Verizon commercial. :lol

If he does it in the commercial i'm sure at some point he will do it in the movie.

Is that a spoiler? :lol

Nah, not a spoiler. It's what we've seen before. Although if he did something new, I'm sure someone would consider it a spoiler. I just don't want to see the movie before I see the movie. :p

Star Trek sucks anyways, all of it.

If Wrath of Khan is supposed to be the ultimate Star Trek, well then......meh.

Yeah Spock's death was sad, but whatever, he came back. :lol

OT > any Star Trek.

I love watching Trekkies vs whatever you call hardcore Star Wars fans fight.

It's like the ultimate topic that pits nerds against each other. I feel like King ceaser in a coliseum
Well apart from JYE, no one here was pitting one against the other :lol Just calling Pegg out for his hypocrisy.

The director's cut (which is only on DVD) tightens things up a bit and it moves a bit quicker. There's some reason they couldn't convert it to HD for a blu ray release, but I can't remember what it is. It's still not great, but it's an easier watch.

I think it had to do with the new effects shots being done in 480p standard def and wouldn't come out too good on hi-def formats.
