I was actually picturing the movie open like that! It would be a shot looking up from far below at the end of the battle between Luke and Vader, the hand would get sliced off, and it would fly down towards the camera. Then the camera would follow it through the shafts where it gets sucked into, and stuck at a bend. The ratteling of the saber and hand caught in the vent would make an ugnaught go investigate, where he would find it and then you would start a montage of what happens to the lightsaber in the next 30 years. You would see it go from owner to owner how it changed “hands”, all in quick cuts, like just a few seconds per owner and the whole sequence would just be a couple of minutes.

Killer shot concept! :clap

That could be a superb opening . . . utterly new and sophisticated for a Star Wars product.

And therefore we're likely never to see it done.

Expect a re-hash of tropes and images. Nostalgia meets youth. Minimal risk. Tease for the sequels, etc.

Hopefully a good tale emerges . . . :dunno . . . we'll see some cool toys at least.

(BTW The Red Violin is a minor masterpiece of cinema . . . no lie!)

Substitute a saber crystal for a bullet in this shot here:

You sure you're not a screenwriter, Mad Old Lu?

Kinda far fetched and contrived how the burnt to hell mask and helmet was somehow recovered from a random moon full of teddy bears. That and the Anakin/Luke blue lightsaber that was clearly lost when it fell from Cloud City.

Seems like something you'd see in an EU novel or comic from the 90s. :lol What's next, they recovered Luke's hand and decided to make a clone from it?

Jesus Christ reading through this thread is that all you do is cry?
