This is a movie and all I hope for is a escape from reality for a few hours

Nope, nothing is sacred and that's a good thing. I'm not sure that going to see this film is the best way to escape reality? Everywhere I look or go, all I see is Star Wars. Every time I turn on the TV...there it is slapping me in the face. Even on ESPN for god's sake The marketing for this thing is so annoying that I might go watch something else next week to truly escape reality. I'll watch this film eventually though...when I don't feel like I'm being bombarded by the marketing.

I got a small taste of it when i went to Target to buy a replacement light string for my xmas display....

But , in general, I do not watch TV (no cable), and I do not shop major chains or anything more than the supermarket......

So the marketing has not really been to bad for me yet.

I'll be honest, it's going to be sad seeing 3PO and R2 be pushed aside in favor of the cutesy roller baby droid. In all 6 movies C-3PO and R2-D2 were in the middle of all the action. The Death Star plans, just missing getting blown away in the Tantive IV corridors, the Death Star, Luke's training, Bespin, Endor, the Naboo invasion, the Clone Wars, Anakin's fall to the dark side, then back on the Tantive IV again. Seeing the two of them be pushed backed as background characters, "hey, I recognize that glorified easter eggs!" kinda sucks, and this is coming from someone who can't stand C-3PO really.

I'm in the minority I guess about lil' BAE BAE 8. Ever since the very first teaser it's annoyed me with it's little baby boops and overall aesthetic (R2's head on a soccer ball?). Seeing the recent trailer/tv spot where it's rolling around the corridors crying when the Millennium Falcon spins solidifies that feeling for me. It seems to be quite popular with people who really want a toy of it though, so what do I know?

C-3p0 and R2 are were pivotal to the OT. Threepio was actually the narrator of the story if you think about it. He explains the encasing in carbonite, what happened to Solo at the beginning of ROTJ, that the princess is scheduled to be terminated and more.

C-3PO will be a suicide bomber created by the First Order, they'll send him in the resistance facility and blow em' up in a spectacular fashion. Maybe off "General Leia" in the process with a sequel.

I know it's just an arm, but that just looks tacky. The silver leg he had in the OT was well done, really subtle. It helped sell the whole "used, lived in Universe" aesthetic that Lucas was going for. "Naked" 3PO was interesting as well because we got to see what these robots look like internally, which was fun. The whole "rags" to riches approach they took from him being a thrown together servant droid for poor farmers to something more regal with the gold plating was interesting.

But nah, a random red arm. If you want to make him look used, old and run down, why not strip the plating off his arm revealing the internal workings and wiring or take the arm off entirely! Make him a cripple, he lost limbs before . . . maybe this time he just never got them back.

Some hate the PT partially because it wasn't like the OT. Then to hate the ST because it is too like the OT would just prove everything I think.
