Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Henson was responsible for making Yoda be able to move, but it was the late Stuart Freeborn who designed Yoda's facial characteristics. He say's in a docu that Yoda's based on Einstein and the director of ESB, Irving Kirschner.

Either way you look at it the PT Yoda puppet is one of the stupidest looking puppets ever created and seriously should have been on the muppets.

It was Kirschner who claimed Yoda was based on Freeborn's face :lecture

Kirschner also claimed Yoda looked absolutely nothing like himself :lol

Of all of the alien members of the Jedi Council, do any compare with the cantina or Jabba's Palace aliens?

Nah... go & watch Empire Of Dreams again. :lol

Freeborn actually says he based some of himself on the puppet - aside from the likeness being apparent.

Ok, then who did Freeborn base Jabba on? :lol

Ki Adi Mundi and Plo Koon are cool in my opinion. I also always liked Sebulba's and Gasgano's designs in the pod racing sequence.

I didn't like Plo right at the get go, but he grew on me. I think the CW series helped flesh the character out and I think he's quite cool now.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I'd rather see some new worlds in EP7 then spending time on ones we've already seen.

The prequels gave us Coruscant, a planet introduced in the EU. I wouldn't mind seeing Nar Shaddaa. I'd say it's similar to the undercity of Coruscant in AotC but grungier. I'd also like to return to Yavin IV. I am hopeful they put the Jedi Academy there. That'd help distance it from the PT a bit, it'd help tie it to the OT a bit, and it'd keep EU fans happy to see the events of that canon in the movie. But apart from those, I agree, new planets and new worlds are most welcome.

I don't know anything about his backstory. He just looked cool when I first saw him and I haven't stopped thinking so. The rest of the council besides Mace, Yoda, Plo Koon, and Ki Adi Mundi are mostly forgettable. I only remember more by face and name because I collected the figures and loved DK's Visual Dictionaries as a kid.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Interesting. I always found Kit Fisto and Saesee Tiin to be the most appealing.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Clone Wars really made me like plo koon, luminara, mace Windu, and kit fisto more. As well as obviously Anakin.

Oh dear...i smell CGI environments :(

By CGI you mean trickey like miniatures, matte paintings and every other trick ever used in Star Wars so really it's the same as ever.

Though it's far more likely that unlike the PT which used tons of models and miniatures that the ST will do everything with computer models.
