Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

While I'd love to see some gray, the guy is about 200 years old during the OT, no? Be does look better here than in RotS. I thought Chewie's inclusion was forced and dumb and thought he looked wrong in appearance and movements.

Complaining already...

Guess they should've hire Peter Jackson so that the whole movie would be served as a tale told by 375 y.o. Chewie

Chewie shouldn't be grey they live for over 400 years. So 30 years is like 5 human years to Chewbacca.
Notice how adam driver is the spitting image of Peter mayhew, Adam driver will be playing chewbacca's grown up son Lumpy.

Chewie lives.....though i thought he might've aged a little, a bit of grey in the fur :lol

I don't think either of our comments were "complaining." What I suppose I meant to say about him being 200 years old is if he's not gray at that age, it isn't out of the question that he'd look the same in 30 years time unlike humans. I personally would have added just a TOUCH of gray to his costume if I were the costume designer. But it's a nonissue. Everyone else was ecstatic that he doesn't look so dopey looking like he did in RotS. I agree with that!

Absolutely, you couldn't have Chewie virtually all grey but like KO7 says just a touch to give him that air of maturity. But he probably doesn't need grey hairs to show that he's more mature and responsible than Han, which he showed on the Death Star outside the compactor and during the Battle of Yavin when he disagreed with Han's plan to split.

The picture of Chewie made Star Wars Day for me.:clap

I've owned a lot of dogs in my life and as my dogs got older they don't really grey they get little patches of white fatter and slower. I don't think there's a whole lot of grey in the animal world I think that's more in humans.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Wookies aren't dogs. But a "ghost face" would be exactly what I'd imagine a Wookie looking like as he aged. Just as guys usually start graying at the temples rather than just turning gray overnight.

Again. Nonissue.

Animals get a bit of grey mixed in with their coat but mostly their colors get dull. It seems that's what they've done with Chewie. If so it's subtle and well done. He's still recognizably Chewie unlike that episode 3 crap.

I want to kiss Chewy on his luscious pouty dog lips

That Ep3 mask was ****ing terrible, nothing but a cone headed Sasquatch.

Wait, Chewie isn't CGI!!!! Abrams just raped the prequels....oh wait, that's a good thing!!!! Yeah, EP VII Chewie looks like Chewie and not Sasquatch

I'm getting the feeling JJ got it right....maybe Han and Leia are split. Han is back to his nogood ways and the estranged daughter needs help, which pulls them back together. Crap when can I buy the toys?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Well I just found out this and even though I didn't like Filoni that much all is forgiven for making Mara Jade Canon again!!! Now there's hope that Luke's Wife still exist instead of being fan fiction like Disney claimed on the cartoons and 6 films are canon.

I hate to disapoint you but that picture is definitely fan made.

Brilliant! Because that worked so well in KotCS! :lol

If that's the direction they take, I'd be fairly disappointed. When I was younger, I didn't like Han in RotJ. I felt he wasn't cool anymore. Later I learned Harrison Ford was just phoning it in because he didn't even want to BE in the movie. But you know what? It works for me as an adult. It completes Han's story arc in the trilogy. In the beginning he was rogue up to no good and only looking out to save his own neck. In ESB he claims to still be that person but then takes a detour with Leia on the Falcon and ends up being captured anyways because of it. Upon being unfrozen (and with the death mark gone with Jabba's death), he can devote his life to Leia and the noble cause of the Rebellion. I don't think them splitting up and him being a scoundrel out and about on his own would be a satisfying continuation.

Han can still be a bad ass. He can still be witty. He can still have one liners. He can still get angry at C-3PO and his ship. He can still be a gunslinger. He can still have connections to the scum and villainy from his past. His life doesn't need to be all rainbows and butterflies. He can have an edge but still be there for his family and for the Republic. I think sacrificing himself (and his ship?) for his family and for the cause of the Republic would be the most heroic and noble thing Han could do in these next movies. His death in Episode VII would also serve as an instant cause for the next generation of Skywalkers to be lured into the Darkside. His death would also give the audience an instant hatred of the villains and hope to see them die. His death would also force the movies to shift focus away from these older characters and onto the new ones as should be the case.

One things for sure. No matter what, how cool or whatever happens. People will whine and complain.
