Literally everything in the above paragraph can be said of the TLJ naysayers (cherry-picking only the "facts" and statistics that agree with your opinion, dismissing any opinions that disagree with you) and the fact that you can't see that is pretty amazing.

Lol nope. The haters recognize 50% of the people like it. Look how I said 49%. However you say it’s ‘fake news’ or a ‘vocal minority’ about the haters many times now, denying the reality of the other side. That’s the difference and it’s actually amazing that you don’t see that. China BO and all that is just us having fun. I could care less about that as money means nothing as I and many others have said many times before, otherwise avatar is the best film of all time and Justin Bieber is a talented artist. Not to mention blade runner 2049 is a turd then.

Mmmmm......Star Wars and Trump.
Snokes real backstory:He pissed off Vader in a former life, Vader gave him an epic beat down, Snoke was born and turned Ben Solo into his apprentice.
"You're hired. Go frick up the son of Vaders Jedi pre school then I'll train you on how to score with **** stars."

You literally have no way of proving that the opt-in votes that account for RT's 50% negative audience score *actually represent* 50% of those who saw it. I'm not saying that the people that weighed in on RT were lying or bots but I think the clear indication is that they're just a tiny butt-hurt portion of the fanbase that have focused their efforts on that one site to make their voices heard. Meanwhile sure the box office numbers don't for a second prove that it's a "good" film but they do show that it's a *popular* film (outside of China anyway.) Combine that with objective 3rd party audience polls and the critic scores and it's easy to see which stat is the anomaly. But hey, you agree with the anomaly so everything else is rigged/bought off/wrong right? :cuckoo:

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Has Already Been Pulled From Chinese Theaters

So what’s the cause of this surprising drop? Chinese market research experts tell THR that it’s because Chinese audiences are largely unfamiliar with the franchise, which has no cultural “legacy” in the country. The original trilogy never received a wide release in China, and young audiences mostly flocked to The Force Awakens out of curiosity, and Rogue One out of excitement for its Chinese stars Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen. But the box office performances of Star Wars movies have been degrading across the board, market researcher James Li said, with Force Awakens raking in $124 million in 2016 and Rogue One earning $69 million in 2017 — both well below Disney’s forecasts.

I never understand this bizarre, seemingly Disney-authored logic - like does Marvel have a "cultural legacy" in China? Did Jumanji (1995) receive a "wide release" in China?:dunno That would be no... and no... yet Marvel and Jumanji are huge hits today.

This "logic," that is repeated over and over in major press coverage - actually makes no logical sense at all.

The most honest way to express it is that the SW ST needs to stand on its own as a story in China, separate from the fanbase/nostalgia component so present in Western countries, and on that basis it fails dismally, while other franchises with no history in China ARE able to stand on their own and succeed there.

I actually agree. I see claims that the reason that SW doesn't do well in China being the result of them not caring about nostalgia as nothing but digs that the Disney films *only* appeal to people seeking nostalgia, which is of course also incorrect.

There is definitely a new wave of shame sweeping China. Those who have seen TLJ.

Its a good bet that TLJ just destroyed the Chinese market from any further interest in Star Wars. Solo will tell.

I was looking forward to the “So Low” Chinese B/O headlines. :(

:lol

In China Solo will be known as, appropriately, Sorrow.

TLJ is...still garbage....unlike Toht melting, which was great :)

There's a handful of sites that have breathlessly (and sometimes baselessly and blindly) defended TLJ since day one, spinning conspiracy theories over and over, calling "haters" over and over.

Polygon is at the top of that list of sites.

Your signature of Hamill shell shocked and Rian, is that just after the premiere screening?
Is there a video of that with sound at length? I'd like to hear what they said because all I've seen is Hamill slack jawed thinking " The fugging mouse just killed me, Luke friggin Skywalker!"

Do you start a book series and start with the 7th book? Because that's what Star Wars did with TFA in China. There's a reason it's episode 7 and 8 :lol I think your criticism would've been right had they seperated the new movies centuries into the future or past, to the point that you didn't need to know the story of the OT and the PT. But TFA literally opens with ''Luke Skywalker has vanished''. It immediatly ties into the OT from the first second. Marvel has a shared universe, but really, most of their movies have their own self contained story, you'd be fine jumping into nearly any Marvel movie without having seen any of the others.

He knew that his character died before they ever started shooting.

Ah huh. I'm familiar with the debate on if he knew or not. Then why does he look like he just got physically and emotionally steamrolled.
His demeanor is much different before the screening.

To be honest I think it’s a ruse the people that support TLJ. You’re trying to justify your “love” by automatically liking TLJ. You cant possibly like EsB and then support TLJ. Coool story bro

Does the video exist with sound or not? It must in this digital age or no one could make endless gifs of it.

Because he just saw Carrie Fisher's last performance. Ever thought of that?

It’s very clear that Hamill didn’t know Luke died. Someone said it on the internet and there are pics of him with his eyes wide. Case closed.

There's no "debate." There was Mark himself using Twitter to openly mock anyone who claimed that he didn't know versus people simply making up their own narratives in their heads.

Yep I guess it doesn't get any more conclusive than that. :lol

I'm sure it's possible, but I think what ever was on his mind at that moment would've been expressed in the verbal back in forth with the reporters and paparazzi. Hamill isn't shy about sharing his unedited thoughts.
Which again would be a good reason to hear the actual video to better gauge what's going on in his head.

Rey tells Leia that Luke is gone. That couldn't have been a late addition considering Fisher died..

Why didnt Leia know through the Force? She knew when he needed help on the Bespin weather vane. They're frigging Force twins.
Never mind, just another plot hole someone will over reach to explain.
