Don't know if this has been answered before, but are the characters locked to whichever server they are created on ???? Or can you flip-flop between servers ????

I assume it'd be like WoW..where you'd have to pay to server transfer, but even then..I doubt you'd be able to so soon after the game was released.

I don't see the point in doing that either, especially for this specific MMORPG.

So, is this like WOW and will run on anyone's PC or do you need a solid gaming rig?

I have dual core 2.8 gig processors and 3.25 gigs of ram and it seems like I can utilize about 70% of the game's graphics smoothly.
It is an awesome game. I run Windows XP.

Yeah, they're not too bad at all. They Could, infact, be MUCH MUCH worse. I remember the 5 hour ques on Wow.

It'll be fascinating to see what happens on tuesday.

No rush at all. Just cruising through the main questline, and picking up any and all sidequests.
The trick is to NOT backtrack. So, do all the quests you can that are in the same area together, then turn them in all at once.
Compound questing FTW.

additionally, you want to level up a little faster on a PVP server. Keeps you from becoming gankbait for the EXTREMELY hardcore.

There should be max level people by Monday on just about every server.

Exactly how I feel. There's no need to rush anything in this game..that's what WoW is for. This is all about the lore, the exploration, adventure.. Starting a new life in a wonderous galaxy...

When I get the game, I'll definitely be spending a TON of time through each level exploring.

I would say absolutely. It has beautiful scenery and interesting quests with quality dialogue so that one can enjoy it just for the experience of being there, while at the same time it offers enough action for someone to be practically glued to the computer for 14 hours or more at a stretch. It is a masterpiece.

Yes, there is a lot of stuff you can do on your own. For the people that don't want to play it constantly it's just fine. It really is just a KOTOR game that you can play with your friends. There's stuff you can do that's easier with groups, but if you really want to you can level up and then do them on your own.

That is largely true, except that KOTOR maps had large open areas that you could roam around in, and even avoid enemy groups in the process of exploring if so desired. In this game, it is extremely difficult if not impossible to run past enemy groups without aggro-ing them when you have a companion.
They added features like scavenging that you need to pick up various items on the maps that are used to build things, which you need to have a skill in order to grab, which makes it much richer than KOTORs more simplistic grab anything that is there method. The weapons outfits and such are far more elaborate, and you have a limited inventory, unlike KOTOR, which has an unlimited inventory. Limited inventories are frustrating for me, because on long outings combining quests it becomes difficult to collect all found items without agonizing over which ones you have to delete to pick up the new ones. I find it to be an unnecessarily headache in an otherwise totally more enjoyable and richer KOTOR experience.

Limited inventory and unavoidable enemies when exploring or just trying to get from one place to another quickly are the main problems, which of course is compounded by the fact that enemies respawn in the same areas later, so you have to fight them going both ways, which slows down the exploration.


It is easy to travel without fighting enemies in City of Heroes, but this game makes that impossible, and is frustrating when you just want to go from quest to quest, exploring, rather than grinding your way across the entire map all the time. For that reason, it isn't as relaxing and soothing as KOTOR is, but is is far richer and more action packed.
I highly recommend the game overall. I got my Collector's edition yesterday.

I'm not sure what you mean by levels. Do you mean missions, by chance? Those do branch out and keep you going and going, and further than in KOTOR. That part is phenomenal. I was referring to maps, like the plains of Dantooine, or the desert of Tatooine, or even the forests of Kashyyk, which all feel more open than do the maps of this game, however I have yet to go to Tatooine in this game.

Indeed, in Galaxies it is REALLY open. So much so that it would take me ten minutes to travel from place to place, so I would just set the speeder in the right direction and leave the room to do something else for a while. It pretty much IS a galaxy in that game. I never managed to completely explore a single planet. So much barren wide open space there. Its almost enough to make you worry about being stranded in the middle of nowhere.


I expanded my inventory once, which helped. Could you explain how I have my companion sell my stuff for me? You are saying that I can be questing while my companion goes off without me to sell, and then comes back?
