Absolutely, but it's not the canon look of the game. Plus, Bison and Dhalsim are old all of a sudden? I already hated the direction Capcom went with SF4 with the look and cartoony stuff... but they're beginning to destroy character appearances IMO.

True, but SFIV takes place between SFII and SFIII. And canonically, Street Fighter III: Third Strike is the most "recent" Street Fighter.

Dhalsim could've been older in SFII to begin with (with Ken and Ryu in their early 20's), he's still ripped up in SFV. People go gray and white early in life too.

Bison on the other hand has been cloned and 'reborn' multiple times, so I wouldn't be surprised to see one of his 'newer' bodies have a little age to it. Especially if they follow the tale that Bison has been in hiding since the end of SFIV (after being 'killed' by Akuma in SFII).

I actually like that there is some natural progression to the character designs since they are "older" now.

Mortal Kombat says SF has been dethroned.

Even though I like MK 100 times more than SF, when it comes to competitive gaming, I believe SF still holds the crown for Tourneys.

And I don't get the hate for the animation style, do people not like it because it looks like a cartoon? I would think that would be a bonus for most as SF 2 looked like a cartoon, you also have the SF cartoon movie and TV show, why would anyone want it to look real? Maybe even out the body proportions but the animation style suits SF.

I did not know that. That is news to me. My mind is blown and yeah, the older looks make sense.

I know that the games are all jumbled up with the order of release, I just personally feel that the SF series is the one series that should never change appearances. Or at least nothing drastically different.

No worries, I don't like Ken's weird ponytail hair but I dig his outfit. Most of the characters retain their "core" looks and I don't doubt Ken will come with his classic outfit (which we might not have seen yet) in some form. They even have the whole bearded/shirtless Ryu that isn't a complete palette swap.

Yea think so too, Capcom loves dem zenny for on-disc DLC. They've showed ken in his SF Alpha outfit (i think it's the training mode).

It's really the shape and color of the ponytail that throws it off. Kinda looks like rock band 2 hair :(

That looks like Alpha Ryu, too. Since he's got that little boy haircut with the part in the middle, and his hair is lighter.

I'd like to say it came from the anime 1st, then adopted into SF Alpha but im not 100% sure :lol

Just searched it. The film was 1994 and Alpha was 1995. I wouldn't be surprised Capcom had a big hand in the plot for the film, so I'd imagine it spilled into the game's appearances.

I remember being a kid and not knowing what the hell Alpha was and where it fell in the continuity of the series.

The official canon cites it coming from SF Alpha 2. It's part of Ken's ending.

Ken defeats Ryu after they spar. Ken noticed that Ryu was "off his game" and distracted coming off from his fight with Sagat. Ryu had just recently scarred Sagat after falling under the sway of the Satsui No Hado (Dark Hadou) and was distraught with how it made him feel. Ken gives him the red band he wore around his long ponytail as a reminder of their fight and to stay focused. Ryu "officially" starts wearing the red headband after the events of Alpha 3.

Got a free dlc pre order (bestbuy) costume for Cammy if anyone wants to use it? I no longer have the game and they just NOW finally decided to email it to me shm.

Anyway if anyone wants it who IS going to actually use it then shoot me a Pm.

Bringing this thread back to life. There's rumor that there will be an free update next year that will make this Super Street Fighter V and add six more characters (outside of the characters the release as DLC in the Season Passes); Sagat :)yess:), Sakura, Oro, Crimson Viper, Q, and Necro.
