I was finally given approval to show off the artwork for my Topps Star Wars Galaxy 6 base card. This is the first time I've been asked to create artwork that will be on an official, printed Topps trading card that will be printed and inserted into multiple packs of cards. I was honored to be asked and hope that Star Wars fans enjoy the piece that I've created for the set:

star_wars_galaxy_6_base_card_by_otisframpton-d3a2hu9.jpg

I created this piece in December of 2010. The original line art measures 11 x 14 inches and was drawn on Bristol art board in pencil. The final artwork was colored in Photoshop CS4 using a Wacom Cintiq 21UX. I will be selling the original artwork and a signed final card at some point in the future. Stay tuned . . .

I was also one of 22 artists to be asked to draw "sketchagraph" cards, which are new inserts for the Galaxy 6 set (1 in every 135 packs) featuring an authentic signature from a Star Wars actor along with an original sketch by the artist.

The cards were signed by Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Ray Park (Darth Maul), Jake Lloyd (Episode 1 Anakin Skywalker), Orli Shoshan (Shaak Ti), Amy Allen (Aayla Secura), Jon Berg (FX artist, cantina creature actor), John Morton (Dack Ralter) and Mike Quinn (Puppeteer: Sy Snootles, Nien Nunb & more).

Here are my sketchagraph cards:

I'll post more sketch card images soon . . .

Otis Frampton's Fat/Tall/Small Sketch Card Sale 9 Is CANCELED.

Due to unforseen events, the next Fat/Tall/Small Sketch Card Sale is canceled. I will resume doing personal sketch cards eventually, but I need to take some time to work on comic projects over the next 2 or 3 months, so I'm cutting personal sketch cards from my schedule completely for the time being to focus on that.

I will still be taking on normal commission work, so if you're intersted in commissioning work from me you can find out how to do that here: https://otisframpton.typepad.com/otisframpton/2010/03/commissions-original-artwork.html

To those who had planned to order sketch cards during this new sale . . . I'm sorry. But I'll be back.

The 77th 7-7-Sunday artcast is coming up this weekend and I was trying to think of something special to do for the show. I've also been thinking of what I could do to contribute to the tsunami relief effort for those affected by the natural disaster in Japan. As many of you know, my ex and I were married in Tokyo, Japan in December of 2006.

The ten days we spent in that country were wonderful and it only solidified my love affair with Japan and its culture. I've wanted to return ever since and I've often said that I would love to live there for a year. Watching the news during the last few days has been absolutely heart breaking.

When I realized that I had also scheduled a "Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah" digital commission before this week's 7-7-Sunday show, it was one of those lightbulb moments and everything fell into place.

So . . .

This Sunday I will be having a 6 hour Tsunami relief artcast starting at 6:00PM CST and going until midnight. I will be donating the money I made from the "Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah" commission as well as the money I make from that night's 7-7-Sunday commissions to the Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief effort.

And I will also be raffling off a FREE single-character 9x12" Digital OR Marker Commission during the 6 hour artcast. Anyone who donates to my relief fund (via my PayPal address) while the show is on for that 6 hour time period will be eligible to win, no matter how much the donation amount is. One dollar, five dollars, ten dollars, it doesn't matter. Every little bit helps. And I will also add the names of the buyer of the Godzilla commission and all 7-7-Sunday winners to the raffle so that everyone who contributes on Sunday is eligible to win the free commission.

After the donations are collected and tallied I will make the donation to the Red Cross via their website. I will post a screenshot of the donation page so that everyone knows that the money has been given and I will post every contributor's name on my website to thank them.

I will reveal the raffle winner on Monday, March 21st at 8:00PM CST on my regularly scheduled artcast.

I hope that everyone stops by the show at 6:00PM CST this Sunday to help out the people of Japan in their time of need.

This is a digital commission featuring a scene that some Star Wars fans will ask a lot of questions about because it bears no relation to established canon, but neither the buyer nor I care. So there. :p
