So on eBaY if you are overcharged on shipping what recourse do you have as a buyer? Thanks guy/gals! :wave

Same question, was the shipping cost listed? If yes, say it said $15 to ship, but actually only cost the seller $7, I don't think anything illegal or even unethical was done, as long as expected $15 shipping was clearly listed upfront.

I've had to eat shipping costs for under estimating weight, so now I always weigh the item, and then add 2-3 lbs for packaging. It usually ends up costing a little less to ship, but I consider that handling/time/ packing safely fee.

You could put fewer stars in the sellers "Shipping cost" category when filling out feedback.

I don't think there's a course of action you can take in the event this happens, right? You're always able to see the shipping cost of an item before you bid, so it's best to double check current shipping rates yourself before taking the leap on an item.

It's shipping and "handling" so whatever is over the actual shipping cost is "handling"....supplies, box(es), wrap, time to take to shipping service, etc. Guess it depends on how much more the actual shipping was compared to what was listed but if it was listed, not much that can be done. Some sellers list it low but recoup some of that with the shipping amount that they increase over shipping by a bit b/c that's not part of the fee that they pay but ebay did limit shipping costs to stop this from happening since it was taking money away from them.

Yeah the shipping was listed but it was also pre-selected for a Priority Mail Flat Rate Box (which is a little bigger), and what I got was a tiny ____ty brown box with no packing material and was charged almost twice the shipping. I am just curious, not super pissed. Thanks for the input guys.

I would ask for the difference in a refund..... if they don't see the light.... do what you have to..-

As others have said, if the shipping cost was stated in the auction before you bid, you agreed to the terms when winning it. If you had a problem with possible high shipping costs, you should have said something before bidding.

I hear you man, I guess my point was if I am going to pay for $10 worth of shipping then I would expect the seller to use as much. If he used a Flat Rate Priority Box (which is listed in the auction and there is a Flat Rate box that is 10 bucks to ship) then I wouldn't have taken issue. But since the item was in a tiny box in a zip lock bag with no packing material, I was kind of annoyed for paying twice as much. Either way this was resolved.

In that case you can always drop the seller a line and ask for a partial refund, doesn;t hurt. If anything leave a neutral feedback and state why. Care of shipping is just as important as the item itself.

I had someone ship a figure in a empty cereal box once, no packing . . .
